We should be hoping Goff works out. There's no bigger dice roll than drafting a QB, which affects the team for like five years one way or the other. If he looks like the guy this season, they'll be in position to contend in 2022.

A dominant O-line makes everybody's job easier. If everybody lives up to their potential and stays healthy on the line you don't need studs at all the skill positions. It even makes the defense's job easier because you can control the clock.

QB should be the last piece, not the first. They tried the other way twice this century and what good did that do? Build a squad and hopefully...maybe...wait for it...a culture and then you get your QB. Goff is a professional QB, he'll be good enough while the team is being put together...then you drop his ass for a young stud.

Oh we don't? :mjlol:.

Me personally im on board with the management/cant even disagree with bringing in pieces first. Im just not a fan of Goeff/am a fan of the prospect of Fields. If it all works out as is then fine, im good either way.
Ah I see what you saying. I'm not a fan of Goff either. I like Fields but taking a QB with Goff's contract on the roster makes no sense. I'd rather let him do his thing this year. More than likely we're going to suck and get another high pick next year, where we can get our guy. Goff is a bridge, not a long term player.

Building the trenches. I like it. I remember when Quinn drafted A'Shawn Robinson a few years ago and it seemed like a reach, and we know that never really turned into anything. Not a bad player but whatever. I like this pick much better.

I dunno but he's viewed as a project. I woulda taken Terrace Marshall with the second rounder but I know I'm in the minority. :francis:

I dunno. I like the direction we're going. If things work out with one of the day 2 picks and brockers the line would be the clear strength of the unit. This is all assuming Okwara and Flowers don't regress.

Flowers has never been that good, just solid. Wildly overpaid for him. Okwara is the only guy who's shown ability to rush the passer and that's only been for one season so far. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke.

My thing is still that the very best teams in the league have a lot of playmakers. Personally, I think scheme and coaching can elevate solid offensive linemen. You don't need a bunch of All-Pros there. They have A LOT invested in the trenches now. That needs to be a dominant unit no matter who's under center or the backfield.

Impressed by the draft, to the point that if this works I could see this team competing in a year. They have completely revamped the d-line. Good luck running on these guys. More importantly we have guys who can penetrate and get to the QB. The exact opposite of Patricia’s bullshyt. This automatically makes the secondary better.
