Damn its actually going to happen. You can hope this mobilizes the public but I should probably know better than to expect anything positive to come from this.
One thing I’ve thought of for progressive candidates is to stop telling people they are poor but instead describing poor conditions and how to improve them. They keep stripping peoples rights, people keep not being able to afford rent, people keep seeing their quality of life declining etc. What is the breaking point for the American population because voting at this point at getting anything done. Especially in red states. Gutting the VRA was the first step because republicans knew they’d get push back once they started down the Extremist Christian Fundamentalist path. Most people ain’t fukking with that but you can’t remove most of these people now
So that’s pretty much the only path forward as I see it other than obviously doing things in ur own community
White women the fakest “allies” to step foot on the fieldyou gotta laugh at white women. offended at obama having the gall to suggest RBG step down while he had the senate. then vote for trump instead of another white woman.
Cori is incredible politician. More people like her would be a nice step in the right direction. Her and Illhan Omar are great. Especially Illhans takes on our blood thirsty foreign policies. One thing I’ve thought of for progressive candidates is to stop telling people they are poor but instead describing poor conditions and how to improve them.
Cori Bush was in Democracy Now when she slept on the Capitol steps to protest the rent eviction moratorium. She talked about how undignified the welfare process was for her. That let me know that shorty was really poor and not the vague stuff that politicians say, “I was raised by a single mother and it was hard,” crap we usually get.
My point isn’t that these candidates are good or bad. It’s to start talking about the conditions of poverty. A big problem Bernie Sanders had in his campaigns was he didn’t tell what poverty looks like. Not in the lofty platitudial way, but what it looks like getting government food, waiting in line for your EBT card, the difficulties of getting public housing or section 8, waiting each month for WIC benefits, etc. Those are conditions the people he hoped would turn out needed to hear, and his solutions for them. It’s nuts because Bernie Sanders was in poverty for most of his young life but we didn’t get stories like that or depictions of those situations.Cori is incredible politician. More people like her would be a nice step in the right direction. Her and Illhan Omar are great. Especially Illhans takes on our blood thirsty foreign policies.
Katie Porter is another very good one
