I attended Tech when they were in full swing , no pun. These dudes literally went from carrying T Sqares in their backpacks to hammers terrorizing the city. We were considered nerds as Black kids going to an engineering high school that was almost half Asian. Homies got tired of getting of bullied by other local high schools and Fort Green goons for their sneakers and coats. I had few friends who were Decepts who were actually honor student from their JHS. Shyt just got out of hand once the home base moved to Art & Design aka Printing aka Cybertron. Eventually they were everywhere in BK , '86-90' was no joke :wow:

what years you went there ...

86-90 that's my years.....

There were two crews: Ralphie's kids from Utica Ave and USA aka the United Shoplifters Association. They were robbing and boosting anything with Ralph Lauren on it. They also went after Gucci, Tommy, Versace, Colors of Benneton and other goods. They combined into the Lo Lifes in 89 and stared boosting from Macy's and other department stores. Now, they all grown up, they have their own clothing line called Lo Life and some kicks as well.

As for the Decepticons, as someone said it started at Brooklyn tech when some kid kept harassing I believe founding members Rumble and Megatron. One day they were watching the cartoon and said we gonna be them nikkas. They started the "backpacker" thing but it wasn't books and laptops. It was bats, knives, hammers, whatever they needed to beat you up and rob you.

As far as Sean Price and Rock, Sean Price was the leader of the Triggercon division which is an actually sub group from the Toys that came out in 88. One of the characters was named Ruckus and he had spring loaded shoulder cannons and turned into a truck. That's who Sean Price aka Ruckus aka Ruck got his name from. As you can guess from the name, they were the wild bunch. Sean went to jail for assault I believe and Rock recently beat a prostitution charge and a murder I believe. Don't quote me on that but he recent beat a case around the last Heltah Skeltah album. Brooklyn street lore.

All facts, and Rock did beat a murder rap back in 08. Also, what's crazy is my man from Ralphie's Kids is deep into church now and my other man who's a Decept is a preacher at another church. Remember when they were banging people out with those mini bats? Stories for days.

I'm an engineer now ... people tell me all the time I look smart ... whatever that means... but life is good now... Usually you HS doesn't matter much in life its your college alumni status that matters but Brooklyn Tech alumni be out there and the connections are real..

I remember I was on a job back in like 2002 and the vendor and I were talking .. he was tech class of '40 or something around that time .... then proceeding to give even lower pricing

but look at it this way... the worst gang in the city started in one of the best schools in the city... so "thugs" aren't all stupid..
Talib Kweili went there and also Jirobi ...

P. wrote about it in his book and he's said it on one of his last interviews especially the one with Questlove's podcast on Pandora. P. went mad in depth on that one. P. spoke about stuff that wasn't even in his autobiography -- crazy enlightening to his and Hav's upbringing.

Essentially, he said that nearly everyday after school they'd be waiting outside his high school (the performing arts school where he met Hav). They would rob everyone for everything and that made P. and Hav roll with knifes and he said that was the starting point to being turned into the street life because he always had to be aware.

More than likely yes.

I am 1982's wisest kid.

Most bboys were highly exceptional. With dark courses from trying to thwart.
what was older boys before crack.
Where those older boys soon migrated to crack. Or may have assimilated a number of old school way of thought mainstays in the pillar of breakin in mass flip.

Black america used to be beautiful for a small section of time. Then crack ultimately ruined everything.

By perverting small instances of madness. Into sheer madness

To the point.

Here we are.

Every real bboy or bgirl.
I have ever encountered. Was a sheerly brilliant quiet soul turned into sumfin. Given the way the environment changed. Then would ultimately be altered forever. As you can not close Pandora box.
Yet hiphop used to cultivate bboys and bgirls astute enough. To not indulge in the storm from pandora's open box. Till that became no more.
