P. wrote about it in his book and he's said it on one of his last interviews especially the one with Questlove's podcast on Pandora. P. went mad in depth on that one. P. spoke about stuff that wasn't even in his autobiography -- crazy enlightening to his and Hav's upbringing.
Essentially, he said that nearly everyday after school they'd be waiting outside his high school (the performing arts school where he met Hav). They would rob everyone for everything and that made P. and Hav roll with knifes and he said that was the starting point to being turned into the street life because he always had to be aware.

Lol they did get their name from transformers so that goes with the theme. He also said it started by smart kids who went to Brooklyn Tech.when he said they went down to cybertron
Just a little background, Brooklyn Tech is a school so gifted I flunked the math portion of the test and didn't get in. The test had 9th grade algebra on it and I was in the 8th grade. I say that just to show the fact that you had to be super smart to get in that school breh lol. Like you really had to be on your shyt to get in there and me going to the ghetto school I went to I wasn't ready for that school period.
Im from Pittsburgh so I didn't know nothing bout them until my friend moved out here from Brooklyn in 93. He did use to boost a lot lol
Funny thing is we had crips and bloods out here since like the late 80's/early 90's and he didn't know nothing bout them

Yeah man Crips and Bloods came to NY after the fact but wasn't originally out here like that but we did have our own gangs and clicks. Also lol makes sense he boosted a lot cause that was there shyt. Going to the stores in places soho and taking mad gear, leather and you name it. shyt was wild out here.

Steele has a couple of nice vids on the origins of the Deceps, and its a few mini documentaries floating around on them.
I remember reading a pretty long and interesting article on Megatron's girl who turned her life around and became a social worker after he got killed and the Deceps started to fade away.
