@Walt no sir, I am not He...

:russ:

Solid points though.

:hubie:

I don't know what made me think you were a mod. I stopped paying attention a long time ago.

I'm still laughing at that stupid ass album title Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHA It's like a malfunctioning algorithm came up with a title for a rap album after scanning different eras that almost sounds meaningful but is ultimately just a bunch of nonsense.

Was browsing the booth the other day - which I do infrequently at this point - and saw people championing ja rule's legacy and explaining that Hammer was in fact a legend who could outrap your fav and didn't go pop until his later years. I had to X the fukk out with the quickness.

*looks around this forum*

So an all time bozo who made a bloated flop of an album flow-biting over reworked classic beats is stickied; a goofy bird announcing the demise of a gossip and PR radio show is stickied; a thread about a LOX single with 74 replies is stickied; a fukkin pop r&b album is stickied; and a washed up Fatlip reunion with the Pharcyde 20 years too late is stickied.

But a 540 reply thread for the new album from a dude who fathered an entire sub-genre of hip hop linking with an all time producing legend can't see a sticky.

@CSquare43 - you a mod in this forum? Y'all got a vendetta against Roc? Or just generally all-in on the shift to trash music?
I'm just taking a guess that it's not stickied because it's not officially out until Friday. I don't know though

You had the right idea in attempting to tag a mod. :mjlol:
They are probably waiting until it is officially released next week.

I appreciate Deja Vu a lot more, not only in the context of the album but simply by listening to it a few more times. Still think the off kilter vibe would have served a more acrobatic flow/rapper better. Mach would kill it.

I'm fukking with Horns of Abraxas now too. Major Marcberg vibes.

This shyt just gets better. "Female walls warm like analog." Come on man. That's the shyt that will always keep Roc above a lot of the imitators. The humor and wild bars makes it hard to dismiss him as doing the same thing over and over, or the same content. Each album is an attempt to continue or advance his own bar in terms of slick talk and humor. VS if he was just a super nikka rapper 100% focused on killing 1000 people and selling 1000 packs in every song.

It’s crazy it’s why I mainly listen to Westside Gunn now out of the other Griselda nikkas cause nikkas(especially Benny) got kinda boring to me.

I'm gonna say Deja Vu has definitely grown me especially with the video. But the bars were there. And like someone else said it fits the flow the album.

And fukk the booth as a staff, label and crew :hubie:

Benny gets repetitive to me too. Conway has sone range. Dude just made a song rapping from the POV of his son about how he’s not a good father. Never heard that concept in a song before.

But yeah I don’t wanna get off topic. This Roc album gets better each listen

Yea I know that’s why I said Benny specifically. Conway is the better emcee and it’s clear at this point.

Conway's album will be on my top ten list this year, barring a flurry of dope new albums in the coming months. I def agree there's more to him than the super nikka shyt, but man...that's an artist that truly needs an exec producer to pull more stuff out of him. I truly believe there's a great album in him that someone can unlock. Via studio conversations more than beats.

With Benny, yea...I can't do it anymore. The exact same flows and punchline setups, the nonstop plug talk. And it's not even done in a way that is descriptive or interesting. I love how Boldy James will explain the sights, sounds, and smells of that life. Mixed with the dense, Raekwon-esque slang and you get shyt that just sounds interesting+dope. With Benny I'm constantly left thinking "how are you such a Hov stan and haven't figured out how to be less overt with the plug talk yet?"

This is definitely the "cleanest" sounding Roc album ever, I can see this being a big plus for some.

If you look at "Deja vu" as a trailer it makes perfect sense as the first taste (or single ?) while something like "Zig Zag Zig" would be a spoiler,

Was gonna rant but fukk it

Top 5 tracks

Side a:
Quantum Leap
Liquid Coke

Side B"
JJ Flash
Zig Zag Zig

Round it out with either of the bonus cuts, Don't agree with whoever said they don't add much ,2 of the stronger tracks imo.
