Alchemist is going to go down with one of the greatest production discographies of all time. His output the last 5 years is remarkable. He still one of the few producers who I look forward to his BEATS more than the verses. He been one of my top 3 producers since I was a kid tho back in the early 2000s wit Mobb. Just glad that he’s still lacing folks 20 years later

Facts I used to get his beats confused with havocs back during those Murda Muzik/infamous mobb days. Low key I think he’s this generations Premo. Just like back then when everyone wanted a gritty record they would go to preem, Al kinda filled that space as time went on.

Really want to know why Alchemist doesn’t do full projects with Legit top tier rappers. Every project he has dropped over the years has been with mid rappers let’s be honest. His joint with Freddie Gibbs being the exception. Tell me I’m lying.
I got you on the exact answer breh

He said he spent the late 90's and all of the 2000's chasing placements on large name albums, and trying to deal with major artists/managers/labels for his own albums. He said he hated the process of making Chemical Warfare and his career had been exhausting, and that from 2010 and on he just wanted to relax and smoke weed while making music with friends. If anyone wants to fly to record at his house they're more than welcome. Nas went there a couple summers ago and they did some joints. He's not opposed to working with household name rappers, but he said it's got to be organic, because he's got enough money for a lifetime and is mostly done with working in the major label systems.

TL;DR: He wants to work with his friends and enjoy life now that he's in his 40's and accomplished everything he dreamed of in the 2000's. He also said now that he's older he wants to stay at home, and that he did everything he could dream to do before 2010 ever rolled around. Hard disagree on projects being with mid rappers BTW. Gibbs, Conway, Roc, Boldy, Prodigy, and Evidence are all super dope. I think Currensy and WTK are dope too.

EDIT: Also producers don't give a fukk about the things we give a fukk about. They care more about who might have an interesting voice or a unique flow on their beats, and less about just elite bars. Most A-1 producers have full projects with rappers most fans consider "mid". Al just said this about Boldy, and this type of shyt is common among all big name producers:
"It’s just as a texture. Not to get too nerdy here, but Boldy's voice, even when he talks, you could put it on a beat. It’s like water to me when he rhymes. It’s always coincidental that he’s rhyming, if that makes sense. Like, “Oh, shyt,” because he’s talking so crazy, but then the words are connecting in crazy ways. His voice is a texture and how he sounds on a record is so interesting that your ears perk up the minute you hear it, and then the flow is so effortless it’s almost unfair. It’s like Prodigy in the same way that it seems so simple, but I dare you to do the same thing. So that type of thing will always get me, and make it easy for me to make beats."

Roc been phoning it in, I hope he wakes up. Also I hope alchemist puts drums on his shyt
The drums or no drums is up to Roc. Knowing Roc I wouldn't be surprised if he picks a lot of drumless, but we'll see.

But Al has been using drums on damn near every beat on all of his projects the past two years besides Alfredo, and Freddie chose all the beats for that one. The beats on Bo Jackson and Tea in China were chosen by Al and those were heavier on the drums than Alfredo was. But low key Gibbs gets a lot of drumless beats from Madlib too and no one ever says anything about it.

Check out Lulu, Price of Tea in China, and Bo Jackson for 3 projects in the past 2 years that have really dope drum sounds all over them.

Yeah I heard those and bo Jackson, Freddie in general has drums and bass in general, difference is he doesn’t always work with madlib outside of bandana/piñata

What rappers should he be working with?
This is what I wanna know? And what options are there?

Kendrick and Nas may happen more, but right now Nas is busy with Hit-Boy, and Nas and Al already have stuff in the chamber.

Jay? It'll probably happen, but if not, Jay's last album was 444, and Jay isn't really working right now. And they did that joint on Written Testimony.

Drake? Okay, cool. I guess I wouldn't mind hearing that.

Cole? I wouldn't mind that either.

Glad someone said it. Roc is in my Top 5 of GOATs but son been too inconsistent and trying to be too different at times. Regardless tho I still rock with son heavy.

I just pray him and Al dont try to get too cute or abstract with this and keep it simple, innovative and FLY. Roc and Muggs shoulda smack nikkas in the head with a cerified banger and instead we got some rudimentary content and lackluster beats. I pray this project dont share the same fate :sadcam:
