And it hammers home how long hip-hop has been here... the groups that were instrumental in breaking hip-hop in on the mainstream level all include members who have passed. Jay from Run-DMC, Markie and Buff from the Fat Boys, MCA from the Beasties, Ecstacy from Whodini, Cowboy from Furious 5, Hank from Sugarhill Gang.

does UTFO qualify for this list?? if so, add the educated rapper to that list.

its like salt-n-pepa is the only group where everybody is still standing.

Late to the thread, but RIP. The Fat Boys and Nucleus are my two earliest hip-hop memories. I'll always remember going to a party as a young kid over my cousin's in Philly and "The Fat Boys Are Back" jamming non-stop on the speakers. That whole day is one of my favorite child hood memories. Making pitchers of quarter-waters, us damn near killing my brother pulling him off the side railing onto the concrete :russ::francis:, and reciting lyrics to "Jam On It", which were the first rhymes I ever memorized.

Man I miss those times. :mjcry:

And of course, watching Disorderlies a zillion times on HBO as a kid.

Same, bro.

"The Fat Boys Are Back" is one of my earliest Hip Hop tracks that I was really into. They were a huge deal to us.

Buff had us trying to beatbox and everything back then, lol.
