Out of respect for the dead I did not want to express this here, but it's absolutely the truth.

Mandela ended apartheid, but he ultimately tied his people to white supremacy and dependence forever.

Regardless, RIP. He did a lot for black people.
That was the best he could do...kicking out whites who have built an Infrastructure for years would been a mistake.

Zimbabwe is struggling now but they own their eish and are rebuilding from ground up. Long term wise generational terms Zimbabwe will be well off, compared to South Africa that will be forever owned by foreigners. The indigenous people of South Africa will never own their own country. South Africa can enjoy their short term wealth however forever got played

Nah, breh. When the world economy(ie white people) want to cut you off, there ain't no rebuild...see Haiti. Mugabe just retarded Zimbabwe's growth, they'll be trying to get cozy with the West when he dies. Already using US dollars to get some legitimacy.

So yall are using a thread created to pay respect to Nelson Mandela to try and start a gender war? Grow the hell up. I've stated plenty of times that I go to other websites for serious discussions (not the coli where higher learning has the same idiotic posters as the locker room). Additionally, I am in a phd program, yall don't talk about ANYTHING that I don't discuss in class or over coffee on a regular basis.

so what your saying is that nothing i said was untrue right? Nobody is starting a "gender war". Just saying with our already few amount of female posters why can't you guys post serious discussions more often.

By the way genius, that comment I made was made in another thread before the title change. @malcolmxxx_45 made a thread related to the news-story but the mods deleted it and added my comment in the official RIP thread by the time I posted my comment in his thread. Pay attention. Then again it goes back to my original point. We all know there are trolls in HL just like any other forum but true or false...tell me every single thread on the first page there right now is trolling?

Anyway peace girl. Nice talking to you.

The standpoint of what. Im just speaking the facts. His own wife, who he fought side by side with says hes a sellout. What is there to praise here? The first half of his life? or the 2nd when he became a house negro. I mean shyt, money talks. Im not mad at him but i aint glad either. No sense acting like he was really bout that life after them cacs broke him down in prison and he sold out South Africa. In the end his all his principles and philosophies stemmed from him being broke as fukk and needed them cacs to put some money in his hand. So it was, and he became a new man while his wife furious.

@Elle Driver sorry you feel that way.

Okay I'm gonna be straight up with you @Crak....there are certain aspects of Winnie's criticisms about him that were right....but when you get down to the main issue....she was saying all this stuff while she was CHEATING on him with another man and kidnapping 14 year old children and being involved in their assaults and killings. The women is an absolute nutcase just like @His_Excellence_Reincar reincar stated. Look at how the first Black social worker in South Africa(Winnie) ironically violated human rights and was responsible for a child's death. Its funny because Assata Shakur is on the FBI's most wanted list when she was scientifically proven by medical officials not to have killed that police officer because it would have been impossible because of her injuries. Yet she has the worst reputation.

In addition, obviously Winnie could not have lied to herself too long because look at her interviews in recent years about Mandela....Why did her tune change so drastically? Why is it all of a sudden she had love for him again? She knows that she was in the wrong and he did more good for humanity than her. She is embarrassed but too ashamed to admit it.

This is what I wanted to convey but did not know how to put into words correctly. You stated what i wanted to say perfectly. As you see in my previous post I still have respect for him though...tremendous respect....But its just a similar case with MLK(and i may get killed for saying this) ....did a tremendous amount for Black folks but in the similar case we have been tied to white dependency in America for decades...

@FukkAPaidEmail you are misunderstanding what we are saying. I would not say the word "sell out" exactly but its difficult to put into words and its not always just "hating on people who get stuff done". Militant does not always mean what you picture in your head, it could also mean being more aggressive on economic policies.

Kicking out whites? Whites made up 8 percent of south Africa and there were like 8 million of them back at that time . Y'all would have really loved a civil war eh, with thatcher sending in British troops and black bloodshed

This is wrong for so many reasons that I won't even bother to go into. South Africa is a complicated country from an economic perspective and the land issue is not an easy one to solve for practical reasons.

Btw, unless Zimbabwe can somehow come up with a weird way of raising capital without foreign direct investment, they are back to square one. They are lucky that a lot of their working population is in South Africa and the UK so the turnaround should be quick after Bob passes away. The expected rise of Mozambique post the basic resource/mineral discoveries should help as well.
Basic things like food and energy security is not even in place. They gave the farms to the wrong people(big pieces of land, no farming skills)
Their huge migrant population is already putting a huge strain on the resources of South Africa and Botswana. Its getting to the point where Botswana doesn't want them around anymore - if it wasn't for all the regional agreements in place, they'd simply deport truckloads of them.

See Zimbabwe

That's a gratuitous and ridiculous oversimplification, but yes ultimately that's all the powers that be would let him get away with. The post-apartheid deal was security for the empowered first and foremost.

I respect him tremendously, and am said to see him go, but he struck a bad deal period.

people want to sugarcoat everything and make up lies that we are "disrespecting him" when we have both said more than once we have a ton of respect for him...Black folks need to learn criticizing flaws of certain legends does not make us "haters" and it does not mean we are automatically calling them "sell-outs".

Again Professor Dyson's comments implying the similarities to him and Barack make alot of sense and it is something i did not really think about...

Both of them extremely underestimated how much power they had when it came to domestic issues...same thing with Barack...look at the way Barack has been stalling the past months addressing the letters he has gotten from his own party asking to increase the living wage for 2 million federal workers through executive order, or changing marijuana from a Schedule 1 drug to a Schedule 4 drug through executive order, and wasting time making speeches about believing everyone has goodness in them.

we are not saying he should have been as aggressive as that nutcase Winnie but there should have been a middle line

Because she knew he was about to die and she didnt want to look bad among the people shytting on a dead man she had such a long history with. Its tacky.

The Freedom Charter Mandella SIGNED! basically put a cosign on the South African Land Act of 1913. If you dont know what that is, you should. nikkas dont read though.

Mandela brought forth a new constitution. It met MUCH/MAJORITY of the demands from the Freedom Charter which was apart of the ANC's demands from its formation.

It made into law black workers rights that they had been fighting for for YEARS UPON YEARS. Also Language discrimination, Also VOTING RIGHTS. Ect....

He also made it so many of the biggest pieces of shyt that performed hideous crimes got what they had coming and it came in a very PUBLIC matter ( these motherfukkers never thought they would have to answer for the shyt they did to blacks in thier LIFE)

As far as the land redistribution or kicking out whites y'all fake ass revolutionaries need to snap out of it, trying to cop pleas for how FUKKED UP Zimbabwe is just to hate on Madiba :pacspit:

South AFRIKA ain't perfect (neither is the US or the UK or Australia) but its def better for the work Mandela put in from both his Blowing shyt up days, to his older more peaceful negotiating days.
