• Chicago Police are investigating reports that Temptations singer Dennis Edwards was abused by his wife before his death last week

• Brenda Edwards, 60, was ordered to stay away from her husband last month, after an adult protective services investigator visited the couple

• The investigator accused Brenda of attempting to suffocate her 74-year-old husband and hiding his hearing aids

• The protective order was vacated after Edwards died last Thursday at a hospital from complications due to meningitis

• Brenda denied the accusations in a statement on Monday, saying she 'would have never done anything to harm' her husband
