As for The Martian, he said there will be another version on the Blu-ray that’s around 15 or 20 minutes longer, saying, “It’s not fat. It’s real scenes. I hate it when people shove in a couple of long shots — it’s boring. This is real scenes.”

I think it would benefit from more on mars. Like it skipped a few years/sols. More damon , less earthRidley Scott strikes again. A movie that already has a lull in it midway becomes even longer.

you could call Kingdom of Heaven directors cut insufferably long yet it makes it an infinitely better film then the theatrical. That's what you want, not what you might get though. And Scott has a history of making director cuts that are insufferably long.

Gravity is superior to this film in almost every way except there was less "science the shyt outta this shyt" type shyt
Cuaron the muthafukkin gawdI was thinking of mentioning Kingdom Of Heaven as the one movie that did turn out better, but yeah, still long as fukk.
It's kinda funny how Gravity is the "flashy" and "eventful" blockbuster movie but has far more real suspense than the more realistic The Martian.
There is something horrifying about dying in space, being flung into infinite darkness while you survive as long as the oxygen in your suit provides. Visually gravity shyts all over the Martian. The threat of death just seemed so close constantly in gravity. In the Martian there was a couple sporadic threats but Mark was so fukking smart and had an answer for everything, he also maintained a sense of humor while stranded on another planet. Also Sandra bullocks character lost her daughter and had to find the will to continuing to try to survive, I thought that worked really well to add an emotional element to the film. Cuaron and lubezki are at the peak of their careers though...it was just a better made filmI was thinking of mentioning Kingdom Of Heaven as the one movie that did turn out better, but yeah, still long as fukk.
