It's well written but it's not deep. Anybody with a little intelligence can see this is the case after 2 episodes.

The thing is most Americans these days are fukking idiots. So when they see perverse and vile shyt packaged along with big words and run on sentences that sound complex, they excuse themselves for being attracted to filth by convincing themselves that it's "deep." It's not.

Lol it can have depth depending on what you are looking at. Some ideas have more subtext than others, But if its themes you actually appreciate, then you should automatically respect that a show is exploring them. Because no other show is.

And i just gave you examples of complex themes it explores through humor, existentialism is a relatively complex theme, they made a running jike of it, there are many dumb americans that wouldnt even catch it. Average to dumb people tend to NOT like rick and morty and not understand anything about it.

Ive ripped people up through debate numerous times on here, in college and otherwise, i think i can display that im not an imbecile lol yet i appreciate this show, but if i walked in a room with a bunch of power watching mororns and social media driven basic ass people, i GUARANTEE they wouldnt like rock abd morty.

So based on experience, i dont agree with your "dumb people like this" summation. Ive see the opposite entirely.

I don't need to see a whole season or episode of something to realize what it is. It could have a deeper meaning laced in there somewhere, but I'd rather not go through the shock and stupidity of the outer layer to find it.

I'm not even saying the show isn't good I'm saying its not for me and way more vulgar and out there than AS shows of the past that I've actually watched based on just the clips i see none stop all over the place. There isn't much nuance to it, its just out there.

Sea lab was great to me because it wasn't over the top shock and stupidity.

One thing that makes this website frustrating is how old y'all nikkas are on here. Y'all folks are making references to shows from the early 2000's, I was 5 watching Sealab and early Aqua Teen. Sealab was lame af, but Aqua Teen was filled with provocative shyt. Remember the episode when hand banana raped Carl multiple times in 1 episode? That was supposed to be funny, but I remember being extremely disturbed by that episode when I was little. Haven't seen anything like that on Rick and Morty, or any other modern adult cartoon

I've read tons of lovecraft, the themes are dark, the universe is grim and unforgiving, but the literature still speaks to human conceptions of what is moral and good versus unimaginable evils that can't really be comprehended fully by the protagonists or the readers.

Shows like this just throw a bunch of disgusting, over the top shyt at the viewer for shock value and cheap laughs. There is no comparison. Don't insult my intelligence.

Morality and human good and evil in Lovecraft are used as plot devices to illustrate how meaningless those concepts are. Most of it speaks to the fact that good and evil are nebulous concepts in the face of the vastness of the universe. Most of his protagonists are barely better than the evils they face. Hell, one of the main conceits of Lovecraft is that by the time the human protagonists have stumbled into the plot, the game is halfway over and that humans at best, can ameliorate some of the damage because no matter what, when the stars are right, the dread city of R'lyeh will rise.

Lol What are you talking about? Your only arguments are based off of wild misinterprations of the medium itself, and wild assumptions of what "socially awkward losers" like.

If you were any good at gauging personality off of interests, you would be able to assess what i and others already indicated as "valuable" to the show, based off of what we posted. What did we focus on? None of us posted anything about the show being valuable because of violence, rape , and otherwise (which the show isnt really about...) we posted about the themes, hence indicating what we value. Which is a more accurate basis to come to a conclusion on a personality.

You however, only saw surface level violence and things that offend you. You chose not to see any depth where there is signs of it. You chose to ride of off what insulted your sensibilities. So i can sum up that you are the type of guy who doesnt look for depth if its not handed to him or not laced with what you deem as acceptable to you. You're closed minded, rigid, and narrow.
