Meant the tagline used in the IG post. "If your child has aspirations to be an NBA player"

As it completely ignores Gil having his own basketball rim, being a former player, etc.

AAU being a near requirement for kids now even with the exorbitant prices
Oh yeah this definitely ain't for nobody regular ass son

TYRONE GA!
Him being a McDonalds All American over Mikey Williams definitely had more to do with who his dad was than anything.

Bronny was a 4 star at best. Not no 5 star Burger Boy.

Lebron Green would be a 3 star. Shame on the committee for that goofy shyt.

😂 did you guys just wake up today and notice this? Since I’m an old head I will give yall a quick little nugget. One of the greatest docs to ever come out 30 years ago (hoop dreams) the fundamental makeup of the doc covers this. Money has always ran athletics and always will.

Hoods kids who are good are immediately funneled to the private schools in the area.

Thing is those "rich kids" have similar levels of athleticism if not better than those who come from less fortunate backgrounds now. Look at a guy like Zach Lavine, I think his dad played in the NFL, nice background as far as financially and he can jump out the gym with the best of them. At the end of the day you still have to be good, just being rich ain't gonna get you to not only make the league but stick for a good 10 years or so.

The frequency is far less...There's a really great article on it on how AAU/HS/college scouts don't have the time to be traveling like that or going to the hood to recruit

Well maybe it's different in some areas, but being in the Atlanta area, if you are lighting it up as a youngin, you aren't going to be in Atlanta Public Schools for long.

If you are good, it won't take long to find you even if you are in the hood. That's never changed. Difference now is kids are being recruited and sent to these private schools/academies even more than ever.

Alot of cats in this thread are focusing on the "rich" part and not on what you just pointed out...a lot of NBA nikkas are coming from parents who were elite athletes. Gone are the days where you're a NBA player and your pops was a garbage man or worked at a plant. Mitchell, Tatum, Brown, Currys, Thompson, Booker, Wemby, Miller, Morant, Doncic, Ball, Irving, Alexander, Jalen Williams, and many more have parents who competed at HS, collegiate and/or Pro/ international level.

its very rare nowadays you get a guy like Draymond, Cam Thomas or Edwards who are from the hood, had unremarkable parents, went to public HS (for a few years at least) and still made the league.
