The actual first scene doesn't make any sense to me. Engineer created man to bomb the planet thousands of years later? Or was the Engineer was casted out and sentenced to die?

There is a deleted scene with more engineers at the beginning. They were in the ship that you see. To me it looks like some ritual shyt. In the movie that have some lines that kinda reference to a reason behind the engineers possible reason, but I have to watch it again. One I do remember is a line by David saying "Don't we all want to kill our parents" so they engineers are probably fearful of what we are compatible of doing with all the weaponry we make.

David was there for Weyland, not the others. Millburn was dead (as you stated) so how could David used him as a guinea pig? fukk outta here.

Also, I'm really tired you nikkas acting like just because people don't like this film, they don't know anything about sci-fi. No, YOU don't know anything about sci-fi, and you prove by trying to rationalize these gaping plotholes as just typical sci-fi tropes.

Breh, the WHOLE movie forgot about it till the end. The crew was FIGHTING her to put her into cryo-stasis. She sneak attacked them all and somehow made it to the Theron's room (where Charlize was off somewhere not knowing ANY of this is going on and no one notices and no one followed her)

She had time to have the alien surgically removed. lock it up and walk away to another room. No one followed her into the room, no one followed her after despite attacking people and not one person was walking around her in the ship. Then she goes into the room where she finds the old man and NO ONE bats an eyelash that this dude is alive and they all go to the pyramid together like nothing happened. Despite her attacking people, old man being alive, and David basically saying "fukk you I'm not helping you."


Not to mention she froze the fukking alien in the chamber and all of a sudden it just grew. Does the "containment" feature just shut off? How did it grow to whale size without eating anything?

movie was cool but you're reaching.

I have to say, I was pretty disappointed by the film initially but this thread made me appreciate it and understand it a lot more. I watched it again last night and made some connections about the Engineers.

Its pretty retarded how Ridley left so much of the film unexplained to the basic viewer tho...

why did the engineer in the beginning drink the goo?

Why did the android poison that dude?

The engineer drank the goo to seed the planet with new life. The goo is like evolution on steroids. It breaks down genetic material and recombines it to create new species.

The android wasn't sure what the goo would do, so spiked the drink to test it. Could have been a fountain of youth substance, but obviously turned out not to be. I'm not real sure why the small amount in the drink would work differently than it did in the opening scene though.

Nobody knew her condition besides David and nobody knew what she did but David. The people that saw her running didnt know what happened.

The people that saw Weyland knew he was on the ship the whole time, or were told a little before Weyland was ready to see the engineer.

Just like with the face-huggers, once the seed is planted the alien grows fast on it's own without having to eat. When the ship crashed is when the alien got free.
