When I saw this opening weekend, I was NOT a fan...but watched it again today and have to say it was much better this time.
I was less concerned about the film living up it's trailer or more accurately, less concerned with the film getting to the HUGE questions proposed by it...but rather just enjoyed it for what it was.
...and the film STILL has issues. Too much goes unexplained and it's pretty clear a lot of the story was cut and saved for a sequel....it ends up kind of being a mess....but all told, I think it's better than I originally thought. The movie is absolutely gorgeous and many of scenes are truly exceptional. Can't say I'm not looking forward to seeing what happens next
It was good for a movie that could start a good line of sequels. Kinda reminded me of the first X-Men movie.

Ok, I finally saw this joint. There are a number things wrong with the film. BUT they really fukked up the Space Jockey scene. It's almost like they ran out of time and just had him kirk out instead of at least having some real dialogue with David. There was so much mystery and build up to the Space Jockey and they pretty much blew it. The movie is not horrible, but it's more like the prequel to Prometheus than to Aliens if that makes sense. Part 2 will be the actual meat of the story. It felt like the pilot episode of a TV mini-series.

It isn't a direct sequel to Alien. The film and it's sequel(s) are set in the same universe. I really can't remember but I think there was a scene deleted there, or is was discussed about in one of the audio commentaries.
I'm really late, but just saw this, and wow, this movie was very frustrating to watch. The movie actually needed more time added to it (would usually never say that about a movie) to flesh out the characters more, since most of their actions or motivations were just straight up retarded.
To be honest, I only watched it because I heard about how terrible the script was (Lindelof
) and wanted to see for myself. Visually, it was brilliant, but if a movie ever needed a Director/Extended cut, it would be this one.

So what Questions do you guys hope the sequel answers? Of course I want David and ol girl to go to the Engineer's planet. I also hope it finally ties directly to the original "Alien". So many possibilities.

Ok so the robot is just going to poison dude?
The robot is going to randomly push buttons and blow on flutes to make shyt happen?
They gon spend billions on tech and space travel to bring the worlds stupidest science team along?
Your SPECIALTY is to map out caverns and somehow you get lost with a 3d map I can while i play Dead Space, Metroid ect..?
The big Alien fukker is just going to terminate on sight breh?
When I saw this in the theatre nikkaz were complaining with customer service about a refund. I could go on with some more corny plot holes but nah I'll be chill.
AND that euro bytch is going to get a fetus removed from her womb and still manage to walk around like all she got was a flesh wound?
