We have to pray we don't face a team with a good D and competent offense in the playoffs.

Alex is a garbage QB, but he plays just decent enough to not get benched. It's frustrating.

That said, Seattle's a top D so.. :kanyeshrug:

so we're basically screwed come playoffs :why:

as much as i hate alex, he gives us the best chance to win a super bowl right now :snoop: we just have to pray that kaep makes some huge progress next year so alex can get the fukk out of town.

I came dangerously close to punching a hole in the wall following Alex's pick in the end zone. Holy shyt. I thought for sure it would cost us the game but Gore and the o-line were putting in WORK in the second half.

13-6 looks like a ho hum score on paper but we were dominating the line of scrimmage the entire second half on both sides of the ball.

That's what we need not forget. We don't win games by throwing the football. We have the talent in the receiving corps and a Godly tight end but I don't trust Alex to the extent that I want us throwing well over 50% .... We need to run and play defense, get back to the basics and in the second half we did and dominated. It's not rocket science.

^^well said, the oline opened up freeway-size lanes for our backs. Im more perplexed by roman insisting on throwing so much in the first half given the fact we were running over them

Let's put on the brakes for a second on Alex Smith. Let's not be so quick to feed the haters. First of we're playing much better pass defenses this year than we were at this point last year. Furthermore, Roman, pulled Alex in the middle of a solid drive for a stunt play with Kaepernick which was retarded. Alex Smith should not have to look over his shoulder, and as talented as Kaep is in the physical sense, he is at least a year or two from starting. As much as it sucks, I would rather take a mediocre Alex Smith than a total unknown. At the end of the day we're 5-2, but some people are making it seem like we lost last night, we didn't and despite that awful INT, Alex did what he was supposed to do and in 7 games already has half the TD's he has last year. It's clear we can't force passes with him and we cannot become a throwing team, but Alex is our QB for this year, no questions asked and fukk what other people we can absolutely win a Super Bowl with him at the helm, we were a couple of botched returns from getting there last year. We are a very good team, we just gotta play our style, ground and pound, play action and let defense and special teams get us over the top.

Also, I think if we had Mario Manningham, it would not been so close, dude has been a boon to our offense.

i repped all the bros in the red, too bad my rep is worth like one point but oh well.

Tense game last night, thought we were heading for an L in the first half. Thank god for Frank and the offensive line. Games like that make me hate Alex Smith, the fukking check-down king. Its one game and I dont wanna get too annoyed with him because he has still played some of the best football Ive seen him play this year but man, this guy does not look poised out there right now.

we need that 6-2 brehs, Arizona was feeling themselves too much earlier this year they still owe penance for that shyt.

If we had a superior passing game and a piss poor running game, would you not want to replace the RB? I can't for the life of me understand how some are OK with having an anemic passing offense. You can win a super bowl with virtually any of the starting QB's in this league at the helm....that speaks more to the team and the coaching staff than it does the QB.

Can we win with Alex? Yes. But we better hope EVERY AREA of our team is clicking. Is that really what you want to deal with in the playoffs?

Alex should have to look over his shoulder until he starts playing like a competent QB CONSISTENTLY.

What haters? I thought our priority was to be a contender this year. Not just be satisfied with a division win. If that Giants blowout at home and Alex's play against the sorta secondary's we will meet in the playoffs doesn't concern you, I don't know what will. The Jets made two straight AFC Championship games but similar concerns at QB prevented them for ever getting to the next step. I can see something similar with us unless our passing game improves. Sorry an offense that's produced a single touchdown in two games won't cut it.

Also stop this ridiculous Kaep excuse for Smiths play. He got a single snap in a drive that was made up entirely of rushing plays. Alex didn't even throw it once, so what rhythm is he exactly disrupting?

Don't get how Alex supposedly did what he had to do yesterday. He couldn't convert countless manageable third down situations, turned the ball over in the redzone, and essentially wasted a huge performance from the line and the rushing game. Kaep can walk in, check it down and hand the ball over I'm sure.

I agree, he should look over his shoulder NEXT YEAR. Not this year, trust me, Kaepernick, has quick feet and a rocket arm, but he has no real grasp of the offense otherwise he would've been competing for the #1 this year. I think we should look to upgrade from Alex next year, but now is not the time have this conversation. At the end we're 5-2, and we're pushing the panic button in some places, even with an improved QB, it doesn't matter, the Seattle game was going to be a dogfight. Our 2 losses are to teams that, so far are legit. The Vikings are overachieving, within the division but have a smart, efficient QB in Ponder, an AP, that seems to get healthier by the game, an elite pass rusher in Jared Allen, and arguably one of the best all around players in Percy Harvin. We got punched in the mouth last week by an ELIte Giants team, that are just clicking on every cylinder right now.
