Nah, Alex is gonna hit the checkdown every time...:steviej:

whats interesting in the harbaugh era...we barely check down to RBs anymore...gore used to have like 60 receptions per season.

And Alex would get int's off them passes because he`d either hit Gore high and he`d drop em or Gore would just straight out drop em.

It's keeping the RB fresh though so that's a good thing. All hail Harbaugh

This. There doesn't seem to be the RB safety valve that we had in the Sing days. Harbs has made it much easier for him designing all those shallow routes that are Alex's bread and butter.

eh...it doesnt get much easier than dumping it off to the RB

harbs understands alex's limitations and oline limitations (well now oline is starting to beast but Im talking about before) much better than jimmy raye

What I mean is under Raye it was "find the open guy"..."make a play". With Harbs it's "hit this guy. If he's not open, tuck it and run". Alex is a robot, and Harbs understands that. You have to explicitly tell him what to do. Raye/Sing was more of a chaotic environment where he was expected to make plays. Harbs just asks him to keep a cool head and just execute the gameplan. No pressure. This is why I think Kaep wouldn't be too bad right now. However, Alex should be the guy right now as we're winning and he isn't costing us games.

I agree with the premise of telling him what to do, I dont agree with harbs wanting alex to be a one-read qb...we saw glimpses of alex going thru progressions last year...too bad I barely if ever saw it this year...

You think he encourages Alex to go through his progressions? I'm not saying he doesn't but...I mean, the dude rarely goes through his progressions and seems like he knows pre-snap where he's going with the ball and if that dude is not open he's bailing.

I figured the offense Harbs runs is what he'd run with a rookie.

absolutely, the offense isnt as simple as it looks.

problem is alex senses pressure when there isnt any too often.

alex is so scared in the pocket unless he gets absolutely clean one like last week he starts panicking and says fukk it to any progression.
but the second seattle game is a good example of him going thru progressions

when alex is confident in pass pro and receivers getting wide separation you have something like last week.

I think right now harbs wants to encourage dude to take his time and not be scared shytless as oline has greatly improved. boone at guard might have been the glue they all needed. also, seems like every other playaction pass works amazingly.

Are we nitpicking Alex just to nitpick Alex at this point? We all know he isn't some elite superstar QB, but do we need to re-hash the same old shyt criticizing the guy every week, especially after a 45-3 win?

Dude is 8/1 for TD's right now and has us @ 4-1. He leads the league in passer rating and we're still trying to find something to nitpick him about?

You can do this to every QB in the NFL none of them are perfect, each one has their flaws. But constantly nit-picking the dude when he is playing good football is just getting ridiculous at this point.

Let's talk about our opponent this week.

It's not simplistic. But it has been made simplistic for Alex, IMO. But I agree with everything you said.

:wtf: we are talking football. is there a rule that says we can't discuss aspects of offense or alex after a good game or something ?

Nah man, I really don't care one way or the other, but you go back to this thread after every game and there's just more banter about "What does Alex Smith do wrong".

It just gets redundant. If we beat NYG it`ll be the same shyt, something about he Alex doesn't do x,y,z right.

all players can and could and should improve. even joe or steve or jerry.

dont see whats wrong with pointing out what alex or offense do wrong or right.

especially since its not like we've been a great offense historically in last 10 years

You sure about that?

I don't understand how a win should prevent you from talking about our players..good or bad.

You think nikkaz didn't talk about Joe or Steve missing throws after a win?

Aint nothing wrong with it, I`m all for analyzing the game, but it seems like that is the player being analyzed 95% of the time and he is performing very well this seasons, that's the trip.

And the conversation seems to be only limited to about 2 posters.
