I'm not even thinking of America. I've traveled the world seeing some shyt out there, some REAL fukked up shyt, but one thing I have noticed is that some countries do make these companies take care of the people they work for.

I'm not disagreeing with the fact that capitalism can be, and quite frankly is, bad in a lot of situations. Some moreso than others as well. But the system can work if regulated properly and people fight for their bread. Some are gonna win more than lose, but the system needs worker bees to thrive. And the worker bees can't get complacent and just take whatever crumbs are thrown their way and :yeshrug:

I know people get exploited in the system, there's no debate on this. My point is stand up and fight if you feel you are getting exploited. People have a lot more power than they think they do.

Our fundamental disagreement boils down to you think capitalism can work without exploitation and I don't believe that at all because it's literally never happened at any point in human history. That system needs to be destroyed completely.

So when I was a teenager I should have been figuring out my whole life plan :dwillhuh::mjlol:

Yes, waiting until your mid-twenties will have you in retail since you didn't have a plan...Student athletes are a prime example, they have a life plan, college, majors, if NOT then plan b,c, etc. Being a teen is no excuse for not having some life plans....

When you mention "Free Rides" you're either talking about unemployment or suggesting that people we're quitting and getting unemployment which was never the case

There is articles every week for pandemic unemployment fraud, I am talking about that...

You are aware unemployment isn't an indefinite resource, people's claims do eventually run out, either work or not, but be prepared for the consequences for both actions...

A living wage based on math and research is 24 dollars and there’s not a single politician or worker in the country asking for that.

If you can’t pay ur workers at least 15 dollars an hour your company should not exist. I don’t give a fukk about ur business if you don’t know how to run it. I have friends who own businesses and all their employees make more than that. If you can’t do it ur a shyt business man and need to find a new job.

I work in finance, we have to make detailed focasts that take into account sometimes 3-4 years worth of shyt. I could give a flying shyt about some bytch ass small business owner who can't do basic math that doesn't involve paying his people poverty wages.
That's cool breh. I'm also in business as well. I'm glad you feel strongly about this.

I'm just saying, the companies that will pay those increased wages and fill any type of vacuum left by companies you feel should be closed are more than likely to be large corporations.

Its an unintended consequence that I don't think many have given consideration.

Again, those jobs are meant for pocket change, not for legit adults with families....

As little kids the joke was to go to school and college in order to avoid working at McDonald's, etc....

Focusing on shyt like unemployment fraud when we have politicians committing acts of insider trading and companies abusing the PPP loans and laying off their workers anyways is just dumb to me. It's focusing on someone stealing a candy bar in a gas station when someone is in the back cleaning out the safe.

Also I'd say simply by our posts in this thread I understand just fine how unemployment and government work. So I don't think you want to go down the path of "Clearly you're ignorant because I've consumed too much media with a right wing slant and have bought into this American dream nonsense" with me.

I don't think we're going to see eye to eye on anything because clearly you've bought in 100% into the lies this country has told people

Is the problem the wage? Or the problem you decided to have kids while making that wage.

Its obviously the wage. Lets take Florida (and my 27 year old cousin) for example. (Since I live here.. even though its worse in other states.) He's works at Best Buy as part of their geek squad for over 7 years now. He makes $17.50hr right now. He's got his own one bedroom apartment, that he pays $1090 a month for. Lets do the math.

$17.50hr x 40 hours gives you $700wk. After taxes (and we're lucky that we dont pay state taxes) he takes home what? $580'ish. Lets multiply that $580 x 4 weeks in a month, and that gives us $2320. You take out the rent and that $2320 becomes a whopping $1230. Car payments $308. That brings his monthly income to $922. Insurance? What.. $100? We're down to $822. Gas? Lets just say $100 a month. You're down to $722. Cell phone? shyt i dont know.. lets say $70. You're down to $652. Internet (dont say he doesnt need it.. its 2021.. another 50 bucks. We're at $602.

So we're at $602, and understand.. I haven't even mentioned food yet. With the price of foods these days.. it really doesn't matter if he eats out or grocery shops. The difference in pricing is minimal these days. Lets say you do a whole months worth of groceries.. lets be modest and say you spend $400 a month on groceries. You're left with $202.

$202 to live off of. Guess what? He has no kids. He works full time. He lives in a cheaper part of Orlando. 95% or more, or 1 bedrooms in Orlando are more than what he pays.

So wages are obviously the problem. Things only get more intense with a child.

That is life. You have the power of deciding when you have kids. You have the power to make good decisions vs. bad ones. And having kids before your able to "afford" them is just stupid and will set you back.

Who are you to say when and how, you can start a family? Is this Communist China? I'm a parent and I can speak from experience.. you're NEVER fully ready to have a child. Ever. Not emotionally. No monetarily. It's impossible.

Most adult children are quick to move out of their parents house after high school and or college for more "freedom". Then you get smacked by the real world. You should be using that time to build yourself.

So kids shouldn't be 'kids'? Kids aren't robots breh. They're KIDS. The experience life, and learn from it.

I saved 60K while under my parents roof making between $8-$15 for the simple fact that I had a goal in mind and was disciplined enough to do it. I also, had my own car that I paid for myself. I'm not saying all parents or situations are the same. But what I am saying is that we all mostly had a foundation that we came from that we probably should've taken more advantage of. That 60K sat until i started making around 60K a year by time I was 27-28, I could finally afford a home on my own, which I did. I didn't have a kid until I was 30, and I always told myself I don't want a kid until I have my own house to put him in. That's life planning. And most people don't plan at all. Now I'm 6figs/6certs at 34 about to buy my second home.

Fam.. again. That's good. For YOU. Not everyone's book is written the same. You were able to live at home and save the paper. Not everyone is. Some families need kids to work as soon as they can, because they need the financial help. Some kids cant go to college because their parents need them to work. Every. Situation. Is. Not. The. Same. I'm gonna let you in on a little something something. You're in the HEAVY minority with the way your life has played out. I'm talkin about the 5% minority. Which is great for you. That doesn't mean everyone else is/was able to follow that blueprint.

People complaining about wages, but have the latest iphones, airpods and jordans and other luxuries. Where's the sacrifice for what you want.?

This just aint factual. It might be the case in some instances.. but it's just a rhetoric.

I'm not saying wages don't need to be increased, but I'm saying we have to be realistic at the same time. You weren't meant to be able to raise a family as a cashier at Mcdonalds.

I just gave you an outline of my cousins life. No kids, and obviously not raising a family.. and he BARELY scrapes by.

So because you decided to have said family as a cashier. Your blaming that company that they don't pay enough to fill the gap of your bad decisions.

You're the one that keeps bringing up cashiers. The fact is that ALL jobs should pay a living wage. Construction, IT, cashiers, factory workers.. ALL of them.

Blanket wage increases won't work and will kill small businesses, especially in rural parts of the country.

Then you don't run a business. You run a sweat shop. If you cant pay your workers a living wage as a small business owner, then strap up your own boots and get your family to work for you. Make it a family run business and keep the profits in house. If not.. pay a living wage.

Wages should increase across the board, but it should be different in every state and catered to that state's economy. Minimum wage in New York City, should probably be like $17-$18 based on its economy but in west bubblefukk Kentucky $10-$11 should be aight since its a slower market, the cost of living is significantly lower and those business won't make as much money just because of location and traffic.

I agree with this 100%

Can't blame wages on poor decisions breh, should have strapped up or got that Plan B. Having discipline goes a long way, not everyone is going to succeed or even have a plan, so they have to navigate life the best way they can.

Level up or perish, I didn't make the rules but that is what it is....

I'm not special, all I did was have a plan, common sense, and some discipline, it isn't rocket science....

And many people unfortunately aren't realizing you can't get unemployment if you quit your job. The company has to approve your claim with UI, if they don't approve it, your claim gets rejected. You can appeal it if you want, but you have to show cause as why you are eligible.

So all the people quitting with no plan, no savings, and possible familial obligations are pretty selfish....

Day of reckoning approaches this fall...Free rides are over....

You're in the minority. Nothing else really needs to be said. And I dont mean that to be a dikk.. I'm just saying.. it seems like you've made all the right calls in your life. Whether that was your upbringing or your strong will/work ethic. The fact that 95+ percent of the population doesn't think that way.. with that fortitude leads me to believe that it isn't possible in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think that's fair to him. A large portion of this country fully buys into that bullshyt, it's just not the majority anymore. A lot those people just happen to be very very right wing... so take from that what you wil

Again, with the dysfunction and poverty I endured during childhood, I knew the only way out was through education and following a plan for a career in STEM. Built computers and did programming while a teenager, worked shytty service jobs in High School to gain exposure and understand being in the front line of customer service would not be sustainable until I retired....

Hustled throughout college doing internships....career as an Engineer....

Discipline....that is what it takes...studying whenever and however to level up...

Retail should be stepping stone, not a final destination for a career.

Of course you're an engineer.... That explains quite a bit of why you think the world works in a vacuum
