Yes it's possible. There's actually been some people in a coma on life support for years and then waking up perfectly fine. The odds of them waking up is much lower than them never waking up so most people pull up the plug, instead of waiting around for something that may never happen.
Yeah, but that ain't the same as being Brain Dead since a Coma, while being a stage of unresponsive unconsciousness, still has the patient with varying levels of brain activity that in turn can lead to varying levels of responsiveness and states if they are lucky.
Brain Death is just that...dead. Brain. No function other than background features which are aided by a life support machine to carry out fully. No brain activity and if I'm correct, they don't even respond to certain reflex stimuli like tickled feet, punctures or anything more physical than that like a Coma patient would.
