X did something that a lot of rappers wish they could do

He literally changed the game when he debuted and he impacted a lot of lives
.
He was relatable and very talented

May he rest in peace

:salute:

I find it funny, how DMX became crazy successful in music, but people still pushed the nonsense that you gotta be Puffy-lite to be successful and make cliche commercial music. :jbhmm:

I swear, I always be baffled at how so many in our generation grew up to be so bytchmade? We was listening to X, CMR, No Limit, Three 6, Hov, Nas, Cam, all these hard acts but nikkaz listen to weak ass Drake rockin tight jeans and cancel each other on some moral police Puritan shyt.

I can safely say my clothes stayed loose and baggy, my music stayed hard, and unless you’re a full blown racist or rapist I don’t give a fukk about you enough to go on a cancel crusade. Ima keep staying away from IG and all that other shyt cuz I really think social media turned a lot of us out.

It's fukkin ridiculous man.

imagine if them Eddie Murphy 80's comedy joints came out today; he probably couldn't have a career. Over sensitive muhfukkas trying to politicize every damn thing these artists say or have said in the past.

trash ass era, gon get worse too

Nah, I really need someone with a big bag and no fukks given to just start goin off. I’m tired of this bytch ass shyt it’s fukkin lame. All jokes aside I stay far away if you even give me the slightest hint of being on some weirdo hyper respectability cancel cult shyt. My thing is, why would they even want to legislate so hard like this you either gon push people away or not get they real thoughts or feelings.

The irony is that they fascist as fukk doing this but they think they some freedom fighting champions. Ain’t shyt but useful puppets for neoliberalism to keep peoples attention on issues that only effect .0001% of the population in order to keep the fight away from more serious issues or they useful feminist bytches that are bitter as fukk and refuse to contextualize anything and everything to get their point across.

I made a playlist to really process and grieve the right way. I sequenced it with the theme of Dark to Light in mind. The second half consists of the introspective deep cuts I loved listening to growing up. Playlist starts with the IDAHIH Intro and ends with 24 Hrs to Live as the last track

Real shyt, DMX, No Limit, and Cash Money was my life raft in a sea of Diddy inspired bullshyt I can’t thank him enough. The visuals of the video, the wild ad libs, the distinct raspy voice, the energy, this song launched dog like a fukkin space rocket.

That shyt was so good it even forced Diddy to come correct via Bad Boys 4 Life, or at least that’s how I feel.

Maybe I had enough older real nikkaz around me for context but I personally connected more with songs about the struggle or painting pictures of the uglier side of things. I was never the biggest fan of creating comfortable illusions.

Plus we gotta be honest, the white executives in charge were the ones promoting negative things. Rap music went from being a therapeutic and cathartic experience and expression of the trauma felt since at least the early 70s. To me, it feels like the kinda logic you presenting is the reason why artists like Drake can flourish or rappers can rock dresses with no consequence. Portrayal of what these whites did = detrimental but promoting empty headed escapism and politically/culturally impotent music = better?

All of this.

Aside from wishing he was still alive
If there was one wish I could ask from DMX it would be to make "stop being greedy" longer, like really longer, like 20 minutes or so.
This song is dope, but it feels like it's less than 2 minutes, however it's almost 4 minutes.

Crazy how one of his biggest hits was a reflection of light vs dark and represented him having multiple personalities... meanwhile the majority of the world was just bouncing and barking

There gotta be a nikka out there that can bring that X energy back.. Shyt is becoming too far left, too corpopate and too pussified. This shyt became lopsided to where nikkas are being bytch made and apologizing for every damn thing like suckas. DMX's appeal was that he was for the people and he really was..

Word. I definitely fukked with X for the representation of internal struggle going on.. his street shyt was just a bonus to get hype off. And quite often you could actually hear the internal struggle in his street shyt too
