Fam. I’m confused how that one thing I said got nikkas all bent out of shape. It just stood out to me it’s no big deal.
Nah I’m not mad I’m just saying we don’t need to hear “what ja rule thinks” is the expression I’d use

obviously Ja and X have history together so I don’t mean it literally

I just mean we don’t absolutely need to hear random rappers thoughts and opinions

meaning I’d just expect statements from people close to him when they’re ready to process the grief

but it is what it is

I think X & Pac understood the power of a simple truth.Neither were "complex" rappers, but they weren't afraid to disarm, and expose all of their vulnerabilities to the world.

If hip hop was a body, they'd form the heart area.Niccaz like KRS make up the brain.Nas, Biggie, Jay etc..etc. the tongue. It's more of a personality type than it's actually

rapping words.I always felt like Pac & X broadcasted a similar intrinsic frequency.X had a lil touch of horrocore to his style, but at the center, he was a simple truth MC.Like

Pac or Face.Hardest style to imitate.Takes a truly genuine heart IMO.I think that's why fans of such artist have a deeper connectivity with the music.
Daps and rep. This is a powerful post and I think it’s entirely true.

:mjcry: I know we all go someday, but how he went is just.. smh. I remember in 99 when my cuzo gave me his copy of It's Dark and Hell is Hot... it was a wrap from there. The Great Depression was the first was album I bought myself. That joint stayed on rotation. About to blast it :wow:

What I find funny is I see no post by Drizzy, Cole or Kendrick or none of them when I have heard them say X was an influence.

Hoodrat attention whoring behavior:stopitslime:

These young men big upped X and gave X his flowers way before we got to this place. Way before the Verzuz look. Way before the Drink Champs look. But since they didn't hop on social media and get their attention whoring on, it's rubbing you the wrong way? Yikes.

Blessings to X

I think a big reason why this loss hurts especially for me, and maybe this applies to some other people of my generation, but X came out In that time period between childhood and adolescence. I was going into 8th grade.

I was old enough to know that a lot of childish things were in the rearview mirror, but not fully old enough to understand the complexities of the world, adulthood, mortality, etc. So in many ways DMX’s kind of was the last larger than life superhero that I was able to hang onto as a child, and he helped usher a lot of ideas into my brain about religion, death, sex, friendship, betrayal, relationships, family, and other themes that adults have to deal with regularly.

it sounds corny to say that his death is sort of like the last piece of my innocence dying, especially as a man in my 30’s, but in a way it does kind of feel that way.

I think Tupac and Biggie got to be that for the generation a little older than us. Gen-X I guess. But for us millennials, I think DMX was one of the ones that played a pivotal role for us that way
