Even I was too young to really feel the effect of Pac’s death all I remember is it was surreal because he was like a superhero. It’s interesting because the more I’ve returned to his music the more I feel it’s appropriate to say X was Pac’s unofficial successor and I only say unofficial because he made his own way and was clearly his own man and phenomena. But no one brought that much gritty raw honesty since Pac. His legacy was paradigm defining and gave real street shyt it’s second wind after 96/97.

I think X & Pac understood the power of a simple truth.Neither were "complex" rappers, but they weren't afraid to disarm, and expose all of their vulnerabilities to the world.

If hip hop was a body, they'd form the heart area.Niccaz like KRS make up the brain.Nas, Biggie, Jay etc..etc. the tongue. It's more of a personality type than it's actually

rapping words.I always felt like Pac & X broadcasted a similar intrinsic frequency.X had a lil touch of horrocore to his style, but at the center, he was a simple truth MC.Like

Pac or Face.Hardest style to imitate.Takes a truly genuine heart IMO.I think that's why fans of such artist have a deeper connectivity with the music.

What I find funny is I see no post by Drizzy, Cole or Kendrick or none of them when I have heard them say X was an influence.
Kendrick been off the radar he dont be on social media like that. He the type that will send his condolences directly to the family.

At the end of the day people mourn their own way
