This is a sad day in hip hop. Hell, this is a sad day in music.

I remembered first hearing Get At Me Dog in college when my Roommate got X's cd sampler when The Source came on my campus. I was impressed with that track, but I was more impressed with his freestyle with the Lox. He changed the game by playing a role in bringing the music back to the streets, even though we were in the last days of Bad Boy at that time.

X was then, is now, and always will be............

A LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look Through My Eyes and Let Me Fly are definitely the 2 most slept on joints on IDAHIH. Let Me Fly gets a little more love as an introspective joint (especially because of the hook), but I really think Look Through My Eyes is neck-and-neck with it. I love both of those so much.

Let Me Fly was my favorite track on there from the beginning with Look Thru My Eyes being in the top 5

Best intro of any album ever

Besides the Intro

Let Me Fly
Look Thru My Eyes
Convo
I Can Feel It
For My Dogs

Prolly my top 5 songs on IDAHIH

A lot of people on YouTube on different videos I’ve seen posting about how super chill he was in person. From people talking about them buying them food randomly at pappadeaux to him helping random people with groceries etc.

Apparently mad people met him walking around casually in Washington Heights over the years

I lived in Harlem when IDAHIH dropped. You would hear that album blasting off fire escapes all throughout The Heights in 98 :wow:

I been listening to that Grand Champ album.. That album had some bangers for real and I believe it was X's last real great album before he started hitting that decline.. Where The Hood At and Get it on the Floor still bang out

Year Of The Dog Again was a good album

That was beautiful :mjcry:

X normally terrified on this ride but put his own fear to the side to console his daughter :wow:

people who say X isnt a lyricist are only listening to the adlibs. X is one of the most poetic Mc's of all time and just because its not traditional run of the mill multi syllable shyt he gets slept on. his old music from the early 90's sounds like Rakim and he got 0 love for it but it was amazing lyrically.

X had one of the best rhyme schemes of all time. He was all bout the multi syllable
I can post underrated X songs all day. Here’s another one. It was supposed to be on his first album. They played a snippet of it during a skit on Flesh of My Flesh but it never came out on any of his albums.

“My nikka T.P. creep with me, frequently
Two deep with me, secretly, evilly
Problem solved, shyt resolved, next issue
Baby nine on the ankle, in case the Tecs miss you”

“Who gonna pay respects, when you laying in that box
Playing with The L.O.X? DMX will spray the spot
That'll make it hot, I torch when I touch
Let me loose, your arm is coming off when I bust
Dusk after Dusk, you going out the way you came in
And you must've flipped once the way you was layin”

I hope they drop all his unreleased joints from 97/98 :wow:

The more I feel like I've come to terms with it, I really start thinking about it, and I won't be. shyt is fukking me up. Even though it's inevitable
Try to keep in mind that ya man has done more/accomplished more in these 50 years than most people could in 10 lifetimes. And he has 15 representations of him that will still remain here and keep his name and legacy alive forever...as will his music. But lets not talk like it's over yet, he's still here, anything can happen in this world, let's keep hoping for the best. Salute.
