Yeah you and @Soymuscle Mike nailed it. That and Capital Punishment were two of their worst moments. The cat that didn’t like X’s debut usually has some of the best taste of the crew, Beezy. I don’t know what the gripe was.

There’s not much to not like about Hell Is Hot. No matter what your taste is. It’s dark as fukk but it’s still accessible. I really can’t think of one song on there I don’t like. For My Dogs has a lot of features from cats I never heard much of after this album, but all the verses are still good.
His gripe was that he felt X wasn’t a good lyricist and the rest of them said it don’t matter cause X was hype and the music was dope. But NONE of them defended his lyricism and they all agree Onyx were better lyricists which just isn’t true. Even tho Sticky is the closest. Fredro was nowhere near X lyrically.

This is still one of the wildest things to me. I was 16 and I thought the same thing. Even though I liked him, Pac wasn't even my favorite. But this is how so many of us felt. "Pac got shot again? Damn that sucks, I wonder how long it'll be til he's back on his feet." It didn't even occur to me that he even could die, let alone would. It was like he was like rap Wolverine or some shyt.
Facts. Like I said before. No one thought he was gonna die.

Ruff Ryders did Dame Grease dirty. I can only tolerate a couple of songs on Flesh of my Flesh on the strength of Swizz. I wouldn't have been mad at Grease remixing that album because it would sound so much better
I love FOMF but I HATED that they abandoned Grease and PK for basically the rest of his career. Dogs For Life is one of my fav and most underrated tracks from FOMF.

Wow I hit the :wow::mjcry: At the same time

Yea man, like everyone else already said this was way before social media or the majority of ppl even being online. So you got your news from the radio. I don't think i even had MTV at the time, so i was just glued to hot 97 right after school. Pac was THAT dude , bigger than life character.

Absolutely. I agree too. Apparently the album was rushed. Swizz was able to crank the beats out real fast. Lyor gave X a million dollar bonus to get a second album out the same year.

Dame and PK still had a beat each on the 2nd album. PK did the Coming From joint featuring Mary J, and Dame did Bring Your Whole Crew

The Mary J joint had one of the hardest beats on there.

Album was still dope.... But that energy was what I thought that whole album was gonna b. Classic none the less IMO.

As with many, X was one of the first emcees to truly bring me into the culture. Pac was the first so he felt somewhat familiar to me. A certain type of depth and raw honesty that as a listener I connected to more than the flashy showy shiny suit style of the late 90s.

I think we all hoped deep down that after all these years he’d finally found peace on this earth. I hope by some miracle he still does, but if not then give thanks for his life and his voice and what he brought to us, hope his spirit and his loved ones are showered in prayers, if it’s truly over then may the ancestors guide him home.

That's what made that Verzuz with Snoop so dope. It seemed like X had finally got over all his demons. We got to see him looking actually happy and smiling and enjoying himself. He had gained that I got clean weight. It was great to see after how long he'd been fighting it.
