First off, I'm with it.

Second, it's always been clear to me that non-AA black folks typically align more with immigrants than they do with us. This thread is just one more bit of evidence.

Third, some of y'all really think AAs are stupid. We been in the belly of the beast for 400 years. We know the wm better than he knows himself. FOH

Lastly, brother Malcolm was talking about this way back in '63 and it's still relevant today.

lt. was the black man's vote that put the present administration in Washington, D.C. Your vote, your dumb vote, your ignorant vote, your wasted vote put in an administration in Washington, D.C., that has seen fit to pass every kind of legislation imaginable, saving you until last, then filibustering on top of that...

Why can't they pass something that will help you and me? In the Senate, there are 67 senators who are of the Democratic Party. Only 33 of them are Republicans. Why, the Democrats have got the government sewed up, and you're the one who sewed it up for them. And what have they given you for it?...

They get all the Negro vote, and after they get it, the Negro gets nothing in return. All they did when they got to Washington was give a few big Negroes big jobs. Those big Negroes didn't need big jobs, they already had jobs. That's camouflage, that's trickery, that's treachery, window-dressing. I'm not trying to knock out the Democrats for the Republicans. We'll get to them in a minute. But it is true; you put the Democrats first and the Democrats put you last.

It's always been about tangibles. Politics has always been an exchange. Anyone saying otherwise is an agent.

You’re very wrong ,ll, we are tax paying citizens and deserve everything I can get. What I’m not is naive and myopic and understand the political ramifications of shyt like this and how it will affect my people. You said you don’t care , I do, so it is what it is and I’m going to continue to bring up the point because it’s the only thing that matters.
So are you a Black Virginian? Answer this question and I will decide if your statement even holds weight on this issue that is a Black Virginian concern.

Black folks who believe the lies of republicans aren’t sane.
That is not an answer to my question. I was very specific. Your attempt to strawman this will not be accepted when I have already said we know Youngkin is full of shyt. So, please give an answer to my actual question.

Im not going to pretend to be an authority in the political climate of the 1960s but I do know that the Dixiecrats were still very much a thing in the 60s when Malcolm made that speech.

The Dixiecrats didn't start migrating over to the republican party until the year after he made that speech (example, that speech was in 1963 and strom Thurmond switched over in 1964 along with some others after the signing of the civil rights act).

All in all you need to have some nuance with stuff like that.

Yes, you do not know 1960s history well concerning what Malcolm was talking about. He was not talking about a political party, he was talking about Liberals in general no matter the party.

Well she didn't exactly make that clear by selecting the passages that she did, now did she?

Regardless it's still not the 1:1 comparison that you want it to be. You should be old enough to realize since you remember 1975

No, you should already be well versed enough in the conversation to submit a rebuttal to her statement.

Explain why your discussion about Dixiecrats as a rebuttal to her statement about what Malcolm has said is relevant to the discussion. Please, make clear to me why you think your very incorrect grasp on what was being said by Malcolm concerning the nature of White Liberals should hold any weight in this discussion.

This thread is now 23 pages long and half of the discussion has centered on Democrats vs Republicans. In 2022 it's easy to discern which side is liberal and which side is conservative due to how diametrically opposed each side is to the other.

This was not the case in 1963 (and I'm positive you are aware of this) hence the reason for me bringing up the Dixiecrats because SHE threw in a particular quote that stated how there were 67 democrats in the Senate at the time. Which brings me back to my point that the political landscape was different back then at least for the simple fact that the democratic party still had conservative members actually serving in the Senate.

Again, it's called nuance.

You're trying your hardest to disregard the existence of Dixiecrats in 1963 to make our exchange simply center on libs vs conservatives. It's not going to work

I’m a African American who’s family had been here since the beginning. State politics don’t exist in a vacuum, especially in todays world. Anything, anywhere regarding African Americans is my business and again I don’t give a fukk what holds weight to you. How about deal with the weight of this heavy neg :umad:

I have personal feelings about this so, I'm probably sitting in a sea of salt.

I live in a state where there is a lot of illegal immigration going on. I pay for my college tuition out of pocket. Early in the semester, my professor had us listen to a speaker in the auditorium. The speaker talked about attending the college for completely free and how grateful they are even though they aren't even legally in the country! Then started going on about all these opportunities. Opportunities that legally residing citizens have difficulty getting. That was a hard pill to swallow after paying that tuition bill.

I was so annoyed I started researching and planned to write the dean a letter. In my mind, I didn't understand how it's okay. I ended up letting it go. I am literally the minority here and didn't know if anything would come of it. So, in this state they do just that and they're not worried about another group's feelings.

That assembly had the opposite affect on me. I didn't use to care about immigration all that much. Now I do. It's okay to see the wrong in what the republicans are doing while still caring more about your own people's issues. I'm glad for the HBCUs in Virginia. I hope they can continue to get more and leverage it.

:hubie:
Democrats mostly are constantly trying to sneak in immigration legislation to unrelated Bills also.

I am a Black American Virginian who is a member of the state's electorate.

The -5 rep you gave me and your inability to directly answer my questions expose what you are about. You won't even state whether you are a Virginian or not. I suspect it is because you already know you have no dog in this fight. You just want to protect your party at all costs, even if the issue does not affect you at all.

So I now know to not take anything you spew about this issue seriously. Also, learn to control your emotions.

Good stuff. His lieutenant governor is also a black woman. Hopefully he continues to look out for the black community.:salute:
He’s playing chess, you’re thinking checkers. He’s not looking out for the Black community lol.

Of course not, I’m saying this was used as a Obvious political move by republicans as a way to use make moves that will will eventually hurt sane black people, by increasing votes for them. It’s not like it was either them or us for this money, can you admit this? It was engough money for both issues without creating drama where it wasn’t necessary.

You're next level stupid
