It worked for Putin? (and so many other leaders who came to power via coup/statelessness)

But I don't think he has the capacity to run a country.

Even if he was in charge, the same problems in Haiti still exist. The same problems that the elected officials were not solving.

There aren't enough resources for everyone. The best and worst thing that could happen to Haiti is finding oil reserves...

Putin was in politics since 1990 he didnt just randomly become leader

Police Chief's home was set on fire.

PORT-AU-PRINCE — Armed bandits set fire to the home of Frantz Elbé, director general of the Haitian National Police (PNH), during ongoing attacks on Thursday, according to the police union. Saying the attack is a sign the police cannot protect anyone, some residents called for the Haitian police chief, who reportedly fled the home weeks prior, to resign.

Citing a police source, the Synapoha union share the news via X, formerly Twitter. The union said that Elbé’s private residence, located in the Croix-des-Bouquets area, has been looted before.

Henry should have moved with stealth in coordinating with Kenya and the other countries. Gang leaders moved around with no consequences for years. They sense the end is coming soon for them now,

One Thing: How Haiti’s Gangs Pushed Out the Prime Minister CNN 5 Things

Earlier this week, Haitian prime minister Ariel Henry announced he would resign amid spreading gang violence and instability. The United Nations estimates that gangs control nearly 80% of Haiti’s capital, brutalizing civilians and attacking police. Meanwhile, a Kenyan-led force is set to take over security on the island once a presidential council is in place, but there are major questions about how effective it will be. In this episode, a CNN team describes what they heard from residents about the terrors they’ve faced and what they want for the future.

The thousand officers from Kenya + officers from Caricom countries were meant to supplement the members of the Haitian police force.

.A few Kenyans did a recon mission last Summer to assess the situation, but things have changed so much since then.

An actual leader would have had a team in place to coordinate the best way to integrate those additional cops. But Henry's plan was to ask etranger to come in and fix the problem.

He didn't even have a plan in place to anticipate the upswing in violence during his trip abroad, or to fortify likely gang targets.

Muta on Haiti. Apparently JA is siding with the US....smh.
Jamaica and the other Caricom nations sided with Haiti as they have been trying to mediate the conflicts between political factions for months. Trying to let Haitian leadership reach a consensus agreement to move the country forward.
Any leader who cared about the future of their country would be willing to make compromises amidst emergency situations.
The situation played out like we thought it would, with nobody budging. Even as more people die, are kidnapped, raped, extorted and infrastructure is destroyed.

With no compromise reached, or path forward for leadership......nobody is in charge to coordinate a plan to stop the violence. The international community has to come in and address what Haitian leadership has been unable to do, before our problem becomes their problem.
Haitian diaspora makes up the biggest number of inter-Caribbean migrants, and has for years. If the situation is left up to Haitian leaders, the violence will continue and will cause a bigger exodus of people fleeing to the other islands. Regular Haitians, and including the vagabon gang members and recently freed prisoners.
Other islands aren't equipped for the pending amount of people illegally trying to enter their countries. Not their responsibility and it would strain their resources.

Backing an international force to come in and try to stabilize the country, and get serious people in position to move the country forward.....is in the best interest of JA, and the other area countries that will be sending officers. The alternative is Haitian "leaders" doing NOTHING, and a humanitarian crisis as Haitians flee to other countries.

A team to choose Haiti’s next leader takes shape as gang violence engulfs the Caribbean nation

March 19, 2024

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) — Caribbean leaders said Tuesday that all groups and political parties except one have submitted nominees for a transitional presidential council charged with selecting an interim prime minister for Haiti, which remains engulfed in gang violence.
The original nine-member council was whittled down to eight members after the Pitit Desalin party led by former senator and presidential candidate Jean-Charles Moïse declined a seat last week. Moïse is allied with Guy Philippe, a former police official and rebel leader who served time in the U.S. after pleading guilty to money laundering.
The Dec. 21 group, which is allied with Prime Minister Ariel Henry, was one of the last holdouts, submitting a name Monday to the regional trade group known as Caricom. Its nomination had been delayed by infighting as group leaders bickered over potential candidates.

Henry, who remains locked out of Haiti because ongoing gang violence has forced the closure of its main international airport, has promised to resign once the transitional council is created. He was on an official trip to Kenya pushing for the U.N.-backed deployment of a police force from the East African country to fight gangs in Haiti when armed gunmen launched attacks on Feb. 29 in the capital, Port-au-Prince, that are still ongoing. The deployment has been delayed.

Scores of people have been killed during the attacks, and around 17,000 people have been left homeless, the majority fleeing to Haiti’s calmer southern region, according to the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

“We are very concerned about the violence,” said Guyanese President Irfaan Ali, who is also the Caricom chairman.
He told reporters on Monday night that time was of essence given the situation, adding that officials remain hopeful for progress.
“We have been having continuous meetings almost every night, because the Haitians have to get the presidential council in place,” he said. “Progress has been made.”
In addition to selecting an interim prime minister, the council will be responsible for appointing a council of ministers, a provisional electoral council and a national security council. All members of the transitional council also must back the deployment of a foreign armed force.
Those awarded a spot on the council are EDE/RED, a party led by former Prime Minister Claude Joseph; the Montana Accord, a group of civil society leaders, political parties and others; Fanmi Lavalas, the party of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide; the Jan. 30 Collective, which represents parties including that of former President Michel Martelly; and the private sector.
Of the remaining two nonvoting positions, one would go to a representative of Haiti’s civil society and the other to its religious sector.
Caricom officials haven’t released the full list of names nominated to the council
