nikkas in the thread from opposing factions debating over Aristide and Papa Doc :pachaha:

This is also another element of Haitian tradition..... Debating over leaders and their flaws/mistakes.... None of our leaders were perfect and thats fine..... the only thing we can do is learn from their mistakes, do better, and move forward.

Theyre still our tribesman.

Every single Haitian leader for the last 200 years has dirt on their hands and skeletons in their closet.... the story of Jean-Baptiste Sans Souci illustrates the spirit of Haitian leaders and where the mentality came from.

Jean-Baptiste Sans-Souci was a leader of rebel slaves during the Haitian Revolution. He was assassinated by rebel leader Henri Christophe in 1803. Sans-Souci is notable as one of the most effective military leaders during the revolution. Sans-Souci, as well as many of his followers, were born in West-Central Africa.

Sans-Souci controlled much of northern Haiti's mountainous regions and emerged as one of the most skilled rebel leaders, using guerrilla-style military tactics that were common in the wars of his homeland.

Sans-Souci was hostile to Henri Christophe and was not happy to take orders from his former enemy.

Dessalines sought to resolve the conflict and Sans-Souci seems to have agreed to accept Christophe's authority but Christophe still decided to dispose of his rival, and invited Sans-Souci to a meeting where he was assassinated on Christophe's orders.[13]

Later on, as king of northern Haiti, Christophe built a luxurious palace called Sans-Souci. Its name may have been chosen, in part, in an attempt "to erase the memory" of his deceased rival. :dead:

He did the same to Capois. Somebody asked why he was killed earlier in this thread. There were so many factions at the time. And Henri used forced labor on his people. He grew very unpopular.

Above the fray.
"Late Thursday, Colombia’s government said six of the suspects in Haiti, including two of those killed, were retired member of Colombia’s army, though it didn’t release their identities.

The head of the Colombian national police, Gen. Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia, said President Iván Duque had instructed the high command of Colombia’s army and police to cooperate in the investigation."

Colombia confirmed these guys are retired military officers, so they really were mercenaries.

We'll have to see the ballistic reports but i dont believe this nonsense.

Someone high up was in on this. And by that i mean in the people responsible for the president's security. These guys they arrested were probably known mercenaries that weee already in the country that the PNH had their eyes on so they had to come up with a fall guy(s) and nabbed these fukkas.

People that are obsessed with Jovenel being a bad guy like @loyal llothta and others will celebrate his killing but this thing is a disgrace to all Haitians in the country and abroad. Jovenel should have been tried and convicted for whatever he may have been guilty of. Anyone who's a legit candidate to lead Haiti will see this and likely want no part of the presidency moving forward because they dont want to put their family in harm's way like this. The man's fukking wife took 8 bullets (reportedly) for christ's sake :mindblown:. Can you imagine if he had small kids?

And this is why when Wyclef wanted to be president i was like "breh.. you dont want no part of haitian politics. You can use your influence and do more for the people without being involved in this shyt by opening schools and businesses". Haitian politics is a dirty game and the outside forces manipulating things will always find the next sousou to take their money and sell the people out. Until those get hit directly...

If I said Preval is the greatest Haitian President in the last 70 years, why would I be wrong? (I'm really asking, tell me why I'm wrong.)
  • He got elected fairly.
  • He negotiated and procured --against US wishes-- the most beneficial program for Haiti (Petrocaribe) in the last 70 years.
  • He finished his term.
  • He left office as and when he should.
When compared to all the other Presidents in the last 70 years, why wouldn't he be number 1?

I pity the fool who tries to rank Haitian Presidents from best to worst. :picard:
This is a discussion that would turn violent if held among the typical haitian. Even among family members.. just trust me.

Thus why when @loyola llothta went on his rants in that other thread i just ignored him. Most haitians cant discuss haitian politics and leave their emotions out of it. I mean we're all emotional because we want our homeland to be better but these emotions trump logic and reason so I bail.

Like i'm no Jovenel supporter but i'm not anti Jovenel either. I see some of the things he's accomplished towards modernizing Peligre and expanding the developments outside of PaP. But his failures outweigh the accomplishments.

+ THe vote against venezuela proved to me that he was just another US puppet.

I'm not one to argue about politics but somehow I got into a heated argument about him with some dude at my cousin's s house last year before covid. We were in the room watching soccer with my cousin's husband. Dude was a big time Jovenel supporter and i cant recall what the argument was about exactly but my cousin herself came and dragged me out the room because shyt was getting out of hand and her husband (who was in the room with me and the guy arguing but was in a wheelchair at the time) texted her upstairs to "come get your cousin because this dude is getting agitated in here and your cousin is instigating it more and more" . Funny thing is I was cool. But my sarcastic tone and me questioning some of the other guy's points was irritating him and he and his friend were getting louder and louder to the point other people started leaving. :russ:
Edit: But see as bad as it was... I wouldnt dare do the same to an Aristide supporter...especially in Haiti. Many of them will make a scene if not actually get violent.

In Dominican Republic the president doesn't live in the "white house". His residence is somewhere else in an upscale neighborhood, which is actually even worse. But that is the case in every latin american country.

A few years ago, there was a hilarious scandal, that several neighbors of the president were robbed and tied up by heavily armed men in their own house. Imagine living right next to the president of the country, and getting robbed and tied up at gunpoint :mjlol:
That's crazy, so they guy doesn't live in that massive complex in Gazcue?
