Josh Smith may be athletic, a great finisher, a shot blocker and good defender but he's also very low IQ on offense, chucks too many long jumpers when he isn't a shooter, and just leaves you shaking your head at some of his decisions despite his talents

Pau may not be athletic but he is much more highly skilled than J-Smoove, much better shooter from 15 feet, much higher IQ on the offensive end.

I don't get how Pau doesn't fit in D'Antoni's offense, I think he's going to be a big beneficiary of it because he is versatile and when Howard is resting, Pau is playing C

I think Lakers desperately a 3pt shooter off the bench and who can also fill in at the 3. And Gasol is the only trade-able commodity.

Nobody wants Ron Artest. :pachaha:

The Hawks reportedly offered a Josh for Pau deal this summer, but the Lakers were asking for too big of a supplementary piece to go with him and ATL went :comeon:...lakers should've got it done then IMO..pau is not a fukking stretch 4, or a power forward at all at this point and in today's NBA...he's a (likely top 10) center playing out of position who when paired with another center (bynum last year and dwight this year) makes for a tragically slow footed front court defensively that has been and will continue to hurt the lakers dearly...Josh is having a bad season right now and pau is prolly in a vaccum still the better player...but I've been wanting this trade for a while...he isn't a "stretch 4" either, but a far better fit what the lakers need defensively...and now that D'Antoni is the coach, prolly offensively too...ATL would be better with Pau too, but it wouldn't make them contenders or anything and understand if they financial considerations over getting better in the short term

But bottom line....Pau's gonna have to get traded for somebody

ESPN.com's Marc Stein writes: "Sources say that the Hawks, at present, have no interest in parting with Josh Smith and Kyle Korver for Gasol. Or even Smith and lesser parts for Gasol. Positions can obviously change between now and the Feb. 21 trade deadline, but sources maintain that Atlanta has not been enticed in the least by the prospect of parting with the 26-year-old Smith -- even as he heads into unrestricted free agency -- for the 32-year-old Gasol. The Hawks, for the record, have also been telling interested teams that they value Smith and what he offers as a hybrid forward in an Eastern Conference that's generally been getting smaller."

Did you think that Gasol for Kwame Trade was gonna happen? dont underestimate the stupidity of some GMs when dealing with the Lakers.

Josh Smith is overrated. Never been a fan of his game. Even on defense he has a low bball iq. Everytime i watch ATl, for all the potential and good he does, he also hurts them as much as he helps. Pau is clearly the better player.

I hope LA does acquire him.

Naw, he won't be a better fit offensively. Not at all.
