How were they going to do that when he injured his back right after the ink dried and depending on who you ask, was injured when he signed it
?

teams have happily traded for - and committed to - far worse damaged goods players lol. selling high on porter should've been the goal from the jump

He’s been healthy for 2 straight years now with less years on his deal than back then. If they can’t move him now, they weren’t gonna be able to move him then.

Of course they do, but that's overlooking the notably history that Porter Jr had even going back to the draft. No team was taking on that deal especially without sweetners attached. We're not going to have revisionist history about how shot his back was and how Denver ended up with him in the first place.

That Miami series was a bit of hope as it seem like it started to click that he could do more outside of just shooting, unfortunately it didn't carry to the next season.

If I'm Jokic, I want out if this is how they plan on wasting his prime years.

its not revisionist history to say that every year teams trade for, give up assets for, and commit to guys who have an obvious injury history lol

not sure why this is some crazy thought experiment. and every contending team is okay with moving stagnant players with assets attached if they're playing for a window.

they should've moved him back then. and it wasn't some foreign thought two years ago either

if their front office was more proactive they wouldn't be in this spot where they're stuck going into a new season with a 'fukk it, try westbrook'

still better than eating the whole contract while the team is going backwards in slow motion.

and all because you've lost flexibility - but you're too scared to commit to restoring it :manny:
or don't pay him at all, but would they still have a ring? Not sure.

Even now, MPJ gave em 19/6/7 on great shooting (sucked in the playoffs and can't play D for shyt). He just isn't worth the max, but that's the NBA, where players don't negotiate. They choose. Offensive MPJ in this NBA doesn't settle for less than max.

Mike Malone been tight since Bruce Brown left.

Nuggets really relying on Braun and Peyton Watson.

The white boy is so far away from anything and is the reason they lost.

Can’t create & damn sure can’t shoot

They’ll never be able to erase Booth from the history books because he made awesome moves to put Den in title form but somebody from GS has to let him know unless these young guys are making noticeable strides each year you’re wasting an All Time Great’s time

That Michael Porter Jr. contract killed their financial flexibility. It was a terrible deal from the moment it was signed and that was Connelly, not Booth. It goes through 2027 and Gordon/Murray will both be free agents next summer.

With the new cap rules, it's basically impossible for Denver to dump his contract too.

^I was just about to say (and have said before) that this is an underlining issue. Not just Porter either, in truth they have 3 guys getting 200m max deals, but only 1 plays like a max guy consistently. The other is injured/hobbled half the time, and the 3rd guy goes from super sayian Gerald Green to regular ol Gerald Green.

I get the perspectives of both Malone and Booth but ultimately if you're paying your top 3 guys max money but still need multiple luxury brand role players (aside from Gordon) to compensate for 2 of your 3 max guys not really being max guys... that's tough luck.
