One of the worst policy decisions of all time. Mugabe wanted to "redistribute" the land to his supporters but mainly succeeded in collapsing the economy and domestic agriculture. Production dropped 60-80% in most areas, to the extent that current leadership has been begging these white farmers to come back. Something that many are understandably not too keen on doing.

So instead of appealing to black farmers in other black countries or appealing to black american farmers, they do this?

If minorities can run Africa, I really do think it might be possible for black americans to take over the levers of power in the US.

The payment is very explicitly not for land compensation, but for non-land property on farms that were confiscated (so like if your house was on a farm that was confiscated, they will pay the farmer compensation for his house).

The only mistake Mugabe made was not preparing black Zimbabweans to run large modern commercial farms. The whites should have been forced at gunpoint to train the Zimbabweans.

Also guys please don't underestimate the role of a strong agri sector in an industrualizing economy
