I legit feel sorry for you nikkas.

dont feel sorry for me homey, that was the life.

we went thru that so you aint have to

Around my way all the bodegas and laundrymats had arcades and that's where we'd play. Street fighter was the shyt. Mortal Kombat rocked out for a few. Then there was the 4 player games. NBA jam, wwf, ninja turtles, Sunset riders

i hated sunset riders lol. queens had so many spots but shyt got serious at that pool hall on QBLVD on 76th. (my favorite)

the things cats in here speak of used to occur daily. i dont know about molestations lol but shiesty shyt went down.

:merchant:

Nikkas had they life on the line over fatalities :dead:.

lol i get tight as hell still when people are like "******" when i got my mic on

knowin they couldnt have even played "online" back in the day with that mouth

So people in this thread got to be young as shyt because I wasn't even talking about nyc and there shocked . I'm from Long Island and shyt was to real. You either had some psycho hip hop heads or straight up grunge nirvana etc... Dudes who were in and out of jail who would fukk your life up if they wanted to roaming the aracades shyt was scary being a young kid. shyt was intense grimes motherfukkers regardless if it was a card shop or mall or anywhere it was literally almost a kid free zone

chinatown fun was the best. i only say that because rarely fights broke out, at least compared to everywhere else. everyone was there for skill

If you an 80s baby your arcades were different than the 90s babies arcades which is probably why people arent understanding

nah im talkin both and im sure the others are as well.
Yo, being an 80's baby sounds wild as hell :laff:

When I was growing up, arcades were really light hearted and filled with mostly kids. You had the grungy haired guys that stayed dominating Tekken 2 & Soul Blade and they took those games very seriously but other than that, you could play everything without too much hassle.

tekken 2 came out in 96 which was the fertile ground of the soon to be jiggy era(s) a.k.a. the soft shyt was upon us

them games got ignored in the arcades i was in. virtual fighter etc; empty.
:duck: in this thread

Risking our lives to play videogames :mjcry:

If you went in there anything less than 3 deep you were food, these kids don't know how good they got it now a days. :beli:
That's what I try to explain to these kids these days. These XBOX LIVE/PSN kids talking all that trash would get a knuckle to their jaw in seconds and stomped out right after talking like that.

Can you just IMAGINE what would happen to a kid yelling out "******" to someone after losing in Street Fighter back in the day? He will be put IN the damn arcade cabinet for talking like that.

Breh these demons would take nikkas coats/boots/sneakers in the middle of winter. Lucky for me we were too poor for me to get any name brand stuff until high school . Wasn't nobody trying to rob me for my struggle payless sneakers :mjlol:

yup..they will never have the experience of watching a royal rumble level brawl break out at a MK2 arcade after a nikka performs a friendship on another nikka and nikka took offense :mjcry:

the arcade to go to in my town was milford rec in CT..shyt was a wonderland with nathans right next to it..play games, shoot pooll, Q-zar (laser tag), go on rides and eat the salty ass nathans popcorn for nourishment...wasted so many quarters on time killer, rambo, street fighter, xmen, mortal kombat, wwf wrestlefest, etc :ohlawd:...man it hurt my heart when a couple years milford rec closed down...everytime im back in town and drive by it i :mjcry: on the inside..kids have nowhere to go now

I miss playing those cheesy wwf games brehs. I wasn't never good at virtual fighters or primal instinct. I did okay with killer instinct. It would have been dope to have a eternal champions on arcade. The very first fighting game I beat was Final Fight. That dam karate game was so hard. 80s baby going down memory lane:mjcry:

What the hell kinda arcades were you guys at?

The kind of Arcades where you better be prepared to dip if you saw a dude getting heated from busting his ass.

Once you notice a nikkas jaw moving like he trying to get that razor from under his tongue... drop those last two rounds or fake it like he almost had you beat.

The arcade was the easiest way to catch a victim.

I loved going there late at night :mjcry:

I never saw Times Square the same after Broadway City closed

The quotes in that article had me rollin :laff:
Security guard talkin bout ... "I don't know how they got guns inside "

& Ole girl say in that she waited hours after the detectives were done searching the place , just so she could grab her $220 dollar North Face jacket :wow:

That's old New York for you.

Some of these guys have no idea, My friend and I used to go in there with flathead screwdrivers and pocket knives. We almost got jumped for our jackets near the subway exit that was right down the block.

Painting that picture for you...I was like 16-17 when that happened. We sneaked out our cribs that night to go play and almost paid for it.

the end of an era.

This was pretty much the last straw in NYC/L.I
after this arcades died a painful death... cause you could still find cabinets in most laundrymats/pizza places and etc in every county and borough.

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/10/n...times-square-leaves-8-shot-and-2-stabbed.html

anybody remembers this?

:wow:

crazy shyt.... i worked in news radio when this happened. all my coworkers were like :ohhh::sadcam::scust::dwillhuh::what::to:

meanwhile, me and my homie from queens looking at them like "ummm... wtf did yall think happened at Broadway City??" :russ:

BC was damn-near the teenager equivalent of The Tunnel.
