Yeah, they were all from different seasons, but from the same era (seasons 9-12).

Season nine was when Mike Scully took over as showrunner and more of the older writers started leaving. A lot of people blame Scully for making the show decline, but it was going to happen regardless. It's not normal for a show to be GOAT-level after nine years, and there were more cartoons coming out that were inspired by The Simpsons and had new, fresh ideas.

I think prime Simpsons might be the greatest run any television series has ever had. You're talking about a minimum of eight seasons of classic episodes. Most shows don't even get past three or four years before they start falling off and The Simpsons was able to stay consistent for almost a decade. :mindblown:
Very true. South park and Family Guy to name a couple.

Also, my theory is that the real world was starting to become more absurd than the show, especially with the internet, the Bush era, etc. These other shows were going for more raunchy jokes and the Simpsons kinda had to stay in the box they created for themselves. No sex jokes and the only real violent episodes were the Halloween specials.

Also, at some point they focused more on the jokes than storylines for episodes. In other words, it's almost like they started to write jokes and then created a weak storyline around it rather than the opposite.

it's funny to think that they were considered so edgy back then...i guess they sorta were, but in hindsight, simpsons relatively tame to even some of "kid" shows.

They’re not nearly as dominant as they used to be but they still have tons of bangers to this day. That episode “Barthood” was great. They won a best animated program Emmy in 2019

wild ass stat: Dan castellaneta was 29’when he started voicing homer. He’s 63 years old now, and the show is still not close to ending

when they experiment is when it thrives during these zombie seasons. last couple of seasons have been good with out there eps.

enjoyed the skinners/chammers one, first time that the family was not involved in the overall plot of an episode

or when they did their netflix action movie a few eps ago

:mjpls:

Murphy stuck out because he was such an obvious clone of Stevie. I was always wondered why he never did the show

The character isn't based on Stevie. His looks is from LeRoi Moore from The Dave Matthews Band and he's an homage to Sonny Rollins.

I cant stand when singers “sang” a rendition of songs and fukk the vibe up. Its not showtime at the Apollo.

Breh my father straight up FORBID me and my siblings from watching Simpsons until I was like 14 and by that time South Park, Family Guy and Futurama were already crushing buildings so by the time I got around to watching Simpsons I was literally like “THATS IT!?!?!:wtf:

I never cared about Simpsons for that very reason.

they still had bangers in seasons 9 and ten tbh.

But you could put seasons 1-10 of the simpsons up against any art and it would hold its own. Just art in general, not just TV shows.
Season 9 had that principal skinner episode where he was a clone :ufdup:that shyt was trash
