I got a DVD player day 1. Was big into movies back then and used to always be the only person I knew that got widescreen versions of VHS movies. I went to this store called incredible universe in Dallas when they were being taken over by Fry's. They were giving away DVD players for cheap(this was before they officially came out). Dude gave me a tip though and asked if I was big on computers. I was like yeah, so he showed me system that came with a DVD drive and an MPEG2 card that handled the audio and video out. Sold for $200. When DVD players came out a few months later, they were way more expensive. I was loving this because I had a 20" CRT monitor and was able to see the DVDs at full resolution. We set up a damn mini theater in our dorm. Had that early dolby digital receiver. We had all kinds of girls were wanting to come and see movies. Couldn't even rent any damn DVDs then, lol. Had to buy every movie.

I passed up some potential p*ssy cause of seeing a DVD for the first time. It was like the second or third day on campus and my roommate and some other folks was going to hit this party. I seen this cute Asian girl and had invited her to roll and she was down and just needed to get ready. So while I was waiting dude next door asked if I'm big on DVDs and I had never heard of em. So he loaded up Blade or Blade 2. shyt blew my mind. Got so caught up in watching and wanting to see the alternate ending that I forgot about the Asian girl and missed her coming back to my room to go. Later found out she was a freak too. But damn that Blade was looking beautiful on DVD.

I wasn't into movies real heavy back then.I didn't really start appreciating movies like that until I saw them shyts in HD :whoo:

I remember my moms copped a dvd player when they first came out and had a big collection

first dvd I ever copped was Unbreakable

to this day I still have never watched the movie :heh:

first one I ever copped and watched was Underworld

I remember watching it with the directors/cast commentary on and thinking "this cool and all but I just wanna watch the damn movie without these nikkas explaining every fukking thing to me :mindblown:"

when mom dukes told me you could turn the commentary off I felt so fukking stupid :russ:

Full screen DVD's :beli:

Non-anamorphic DVD's :beli:

I'll say this much though, DVD cases look classier than Blu Ray cases :manny:. Not much of a collector (I don't care to own a collection really) but Blu Ray's look like they belong in a nursery.

I disagree. I think the more compact cases and blue colors make them look nicer.

laserdics was like :sadbron:
massive flop :mjlol:

Some laserdiscs have better version of the movies and better features that never came to DVD or BluRay :yeshrug::wtb:
