How many times are you illterate fukks gonna keep repeating the same shyt at me. :gucci:

I know Vodou isn't a 100 perent replica of Vodun.

Boukman was not referring to a Abrahamic God you dummy. "God" is interchangable with just a creator. That's not syncretism. Calling upon Jesus or Muhammed .would be syncretism.

And conviently none of you have been able to source any actual catholicism or christianity in the Boi Caiman ceremony.

English Translation: " Throw away the symbol of the god of the whites " - Dutty Boukman.

Do you know what that line means? Catholicism and Christianity are symbols of "the god of the whites".

Sigh.

If you know that - you know that means it's syncretic.

God is God.

God is not just Abrahamic - it is well known the Most High/The Divine Creator -- is the same God that everyone worships -- whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Vodun/Vodou, etc.

Therefore, Boukman knew it was those of different beliefs in his presence -- some were Christians (seen God as Jesus), some Muslims, some Catholics (Jesus/Saints) - all had prophets and/or saints.

So some thought of God -- as Jesus -- some didn't -- so in order to pull everyone together -- he used the Most High/Creator - the highest of the high. No other deities or prophets.

That AGAIN means he was syncretizing the ceremony for all who were in attendance -- as they (the enslaved) always knew "God"' with or without religion (Christian, Vodou, etc).

Muslims do not pray to Muhammad -- Jesus and Muhammad are seen as Prophets. If you look at Narratives and just study religion and spirituality during enslavement no one really says "Jesus" or "Muhammed" -- they said "God"-- especially in Haiti due to their Roman Catholicism.

Boukman and Fatiman believed and practiced Haitian Vodou - therefore Catholicism/Christianity was present at the ceremony. Practicing Haitian Vodou is the definition of that -- as it has elements of Catholicism/Christianity.

Image/Symbolism is the practice or art of using an object or a word to represent an abstract idea.

Which means he was telling them to throw away "The Cross" - the symbol and the mental and visual image of a White Jesus aka the White Christian God. Also, the mental/visual images of the white Saints - they used to hide Lwa's.

In Vodou and even ancestry worship it's well known not to use the symbol of the Cross.

And I did -- Boukmans Prayer.

"an otherwise good thread" :mjlol:

This thread is is just a secret caping for christianity

@ poiter isn't caping for it...he's just making a real obvious point that so many seem to be missing

Yeah, I'm not making any sort of religious argument. I'm saying its a red herring.

A group of Black atheist fed up of being in bondage would eventually rebel.

The ship rebellions I don't really count given the entirely different dynamic but the leader of the creole ship rebellion was a free man of color who was most certainly educated.

Actually his story would be a dope love story: Madison Washington: The Free Man Who Led A Successful Slave Revolt - On the Shoulders of Giants
