How so? "clutch" is the biggest factor heads have used to say Reggie is better.

"ability" is the biggest factor heads have used to say Ray is better.

The latter is less subjective.

Shuttlesworth brought up their playoff numbers. I haven't seen that point refuted, or really, any numbers from the Ray side

Playoff numbers? I didn't know that was the end all of their comparisons.

I've yet to see it refuted that Ray is a better off the dribble player, creator of his own shot and better defender.

Someone give a decent reason why Reggie was a better player other than he was clutch.

Ray was more athletic, a much better defender, a million times better at finishing, could play on-ball much better, and the difference between them in Reggie's strengths(off-ball, shooting) is negligible.

Ray was more talented, but Reggie was more valuable to a team. He was 100% more of a leader on the court than Ray. He maximized his talent, while Ray was kind of an underachiever. Ray defense was just as weak as Reggie pre Boston. Then when you factor in the clutch Reggie got the edge. Its pretty much like this; if you want to win a game give me Reggie, but give me Ray if you want something nice to look at (no homo).

Lots of superlatives being driven here. Arguing against that type of shyt is pointless.

It's been the end all of the comparisons made in this thread, as far as a non-superlative argument.

What are the arguments for Ray? He was better off the dribble? :childplease:

Yes. He could create his own shot and wasn't limited to depending on screens to get off his own shot.

I saw Reggie pull up in nikkas faces from 29 feet away. fukk does he need to dribble for?
Because that's a lower percentage shot compared to someone who can navigate the ball closer to the rim for an easier shot or get to the FT line because of beating someone off the dribble.

You can't be this dumb to neglect that difference.

Reggie was probably the most competitive player of his era (other than MJ).

I dont see how Ray being a better ISO player makes him a better basketball player. Thats been the main problem with the league since everybody wanted to be like Mike. Too much clear-out, dribble, dribble, bad shot and not enough executing with efficiency off screens and making your teammates better.

Ray is one of the greatest shooters of all time, but he never maxed out on his talent or had the impact on the league that Reggie did.

All superlatives man. Now Ray should be faulted for not playing in the Jordan era. Reggie's impact led to 8 first round departures, but great moments in MSG during the 90's.

Lower percentage shot for who? :usure:

You act like Ray was AI with the drive. He was slightly better but still an outside shooter. Nobody would classify Ray as a driver. He's in the same category as Reggie, just slightly below him in stature.

Larry Brown had Reggie coming off screens for the same reason he had AI and Rip coming off screens. Because it's highly effective basketball.

This is one of those rare instances where the player from the older era (Miller) isn't as good as the player in the recent era (Allen)

Skill level they neck to neck with one guy slightly edging the other in certain areas depending on how you look at it.

If I had the choice of having to choose which guy from their prime I'd like on my team to build with, I'd choose Ray Allen. Much more athletic and quicker. He had the better handles as well.

It's close either way and I wouldn't front on anybody picking that Star Trek alien looking nikka Reggie. His clutch moments were legendary.
