Nevermind that in their primes, Ray could actually beat his defender off the dribble and create for himself and others, and was a way better finisher. And that the only skill Reggie had definitively over Allen was flopping.

Reggie has more Youtube hits so I guess thats all that matters :manny:

Someone give a decent reason why Reggie was a better player other than he was clutch.

Ray was more athletic, a much better defender, a million times better at finishing, could play on-ball much better, and the difference between them in Reggie's strengths(off-ball, shooting) is negligible.

Dog....dudes are going to argue some unmeasurable superlative driven point to put Reggie over Ray. It's a losing cause.

The arguments made in this thread have been far more convincing for Reggie than Ray...and this is coming someone who thinks Ray was better.

The Ray squadron has owned the "superlative driven point" category.

How so? "clutch" is the biggest factor heads have used to say Reggie is better.

"ability" is the biggest factor heads have used to say Ray is better.

The latter is less subjective.

I don't see an argument for Reggie. The Only thing he did at an elite level ray is at worst his equal and Arguably better. Then you add in the fact he blows him out of the water in everything else

Reggie was a great clutch shooter with all kinds of heart. However that was pretty much all he brought to the table. Ray was every bit as great a shooter and every bit as clutch plus he could handle the ball, pass the ball, and give you better defense. It's really not even close. Just another example of how things like big moments and hype can cloud people's perspective of things. If Reggie hits those big shots against the Magic or the Hawks instead of the Bulls and Knicks his legend is half of what it is.

I wrote an article on these "they played Jordan hard" accolades some players still live off of and chucked it.

I shouldn't have. So many players still thrive be in that "one moment in time" as actors on the supporting cast which surrounded the drama called M"J and The NBA."

Reggie being a storyline during that era greatly exaggerates his NBA stature.
