Well obviously there is no logo police to stop people from wearing/displaying old merchandise, all they can do is stop producing new merchandise and using the logo/mascot. Same as not being able to stop individuals from rocking the confederate flag, orgs/states can move beyond it, but individuals are free to do whatever.
