That’s a decision the consumer has to make. Going into a multiplayer game the servers aren’t going to be live forever so if you buy that there will be a shelf life on its playability and that’s known upfront.

If a game is sold as having a single player mode it shouldn’t have the shelf life of a multiplayer only game due to servers.

If a gamer wants to revisit the original title 15-20 years from now why shouldn’t they be able to on a game with a single player mode?

In the short term yes it’s not an issue. Long term if you purchase a game with a single player mode why should the game be rendered unusable when the servers go dark?
