My review which is a bit of a read.
This is an all time GOAT game but I'll struggle putting it over RDR1. From a technical and tangible standpoint, this is better than RDR1. The hunting, customization, graphics, map were all pluses and the stories were both top notch with RDR2 having more interesting & intriguing characters you got to be around.

However, I didn't enjoy riding around as much in this 1 as I did in the previous, and fast travel should have been made an option within setting up your own camp. There's no doubt the controls are clunky and some of the mundane stuff is tedious (collecting loot & checking furniture) especially after a shootout when the cops arrive leaving you not enough time to grab everything.

Going back to the story, I don't think there is a piece of art that deconstruct's the myths of the Old West and I think this is why some don't like this 1 as much. RDR1 was an epic Western where you got to play as a Clint Eastwood character and everything we've come to know from these tales was included in it from the abundance of saving damsels in distress, bar fights, duels, and etc. Not so much in RDR2. We see the Old West (or at least the last days of it as a bit more realistic). From the beginning of "civilization" poisoning small towns, government agencies being immoral in their approaches for fighting bad guys, diseases, desperation, less glamorizing of the violence, and showing the real affect these beloved outlaws had on innocent people just trying to live their lives. Less of a tale about men doing what they want & more so a look into desperate criminals trying to survive or making peace with themselves and the situations they created around them. I appreciate it because like mob movies, sometimes these individuals are unnecessarily positioned as anti-heroes when they're flat out villains without going through the proper self-reflection to truly change their ways. I also think a lot of this is why I felt more emotionally attached to this game than any other in quite some time.

Overall, this gets a 4.95 mics from me. A great storyline mixed with well written characters in an impressive and immersive world brought down a bit by some unfortunate tediousness and controls but not enough to ruin the game but enough to make it not fully perfect. Hopefully a lot from this game is taken and put in the next GTA (customization & the RPG elements).

Finally copped this game.

Almost fell asleep twice.

I'm like 6 hours in, still getting tutorial notifications and game feels sluggish, slow, controls feel like glue.

This feels more like a simulator.

Just got done finishing the first debt collecting for Strauss.

This shyt gonna pick up soon?

So far I've been spending most my time hunting and shyt just to try and upgrade first.
I feel the same until towards the end of chapter 2, now I’m feeling it a bit more.
Me and you like prolly the last few niccas to jump on this game. So the convo prolly gonna have to be between us:russ:

I copped this game back in Nov but finally playing it now and only on chapt 2. Not sure how many hours I put in but I can say I just been trynna get my barrings in the game a do random shyt.

Niccas is right though outside of town is the wild Wild West.

I done died a few times off some random fukkery;

One time just left camp and trynna get to Valentine and some random rival gang niccas ran up on me like how Bleek did Safari:russ:

Then another time I’m trynna get to another town, come down some valley and see a hold up taking place. Goons point they guns at me telling me to turn around. I back up slowly, then decide to play Hero with them still watching me and get off my horse. This game responds like real life and not typical game shyt cuz the moment I reached for my gun they didn’t hesitate and started bucking at me and killed me. The main thing that pissed me off is I have a NICE pelt I wanted to take to a scalper guy. It was from one of them big bucks with the antlers and shyt.

That’s when I realized you lose that shyt when you die

Let me get in on this breh, just started 2 weeks ago and on chap 3.

Man at the rate I’m going.... I may not even get to Chapter 3 till Late Feb. All Star game here in Feb and I probably won’t even get on that entire week

I’m taking shyt slow as fukk enjoying the free realm shyt and still not fully comfortable with combat plus I’m trynna understand the intricacies.

Normally in games like this I get the game guide but this time I didn’t.

Hell I just got the ledger for the camp like 20 mins ago and did my first bounty.:russ:

I legit may not even finish this game till next year or at the earliest Nov/Dec. when I use a lot of my vacation time and take the maximum amount of days off

I’m not rushing this game. That’s why it be funny to me when cats be like “Bu Bu Bu Bu but there are no games” for like a few systems.

Maybe they either rushing through games to get to the end too much or not playing the right ones.

I have a backlog like a motherfukker with this, stopped playing Watchdogs 2 for this, 3 ACreeds games, 2K19, and then I plan on getting Anthem, JumpForce, and Gears 5 or Cyberpunk if they intend to release them this year:wow:

But back to this shyt..... I gotta step my shooting game up. This shyt still a little bit too difficult for me than it should :francis:

Been on chapter 3 for an eternity now. Dont want it to end because the camps you get in the remaining chapters are whack asfk.

Waking up and drinking coffee by the lake >>>>>>

Having a cigarette then taking the canoe out to those islands opposite to catch some perfect Iguana skins and ducks for their animal fat then boating back to craft explosive ammunition from them :wow:

I aint even really do no hunting/fishing (legendary) or making outfits like that neither

Hunting animals for the trapper (and for camp/satchel upgrades0 is by far the best feature of the game for me. I knew it was gonna be good when I first read about it but it surpassed expectations on so many levels. God knows how many hours I've spent hunting. My whole wardrobe is nothing but animals :wow:

Try and avoid using dead eye to make it more challenging (and fun).

this is supposed to be a slow grind.. i'm in chapter 6 and still unlocking new shyt.

I took a week long break from main missions, just to hunt for shyt, to get pelts, to carry more shyt. It's extensive and made to be slow, so you have to explore and find shyt and run into random things. It's built that way, like the wild west. Where you might start it up, play for 2 hours, and realize you haven't gone far or done shyt you planned on doing
