if that were the case, then how come nobody has to revise history for scarface?

if they were truly that great, then they wouldnt need to rely on revision. no matter where theyre from.

and kast never suffered from southern bias. they had the biggest machine in black music pushing them from the gate, and they had the media in their back pocket from jump. the source even tried to give their debut 5 mics, while albums like doggystyle were getting 4s.
scarface is my favorite rapper but his style has switched up a buncha times in his career low key.

he started out a horrorcore rapper

then the west started poppin and starting releasing westcoast styled albums and working with people
like snoop, cube, pac, WC etc

then the south blew up and he starting working the sourthern angle and working with sourthern mcs like

he revised his own history.

No he didn't :childplease:

The very 1st song that he recorded and released was some straight G shyt. Before he was even with Geto Boys. "Scarface" the same song that secured him a spot on the Geto Boys roster. And the content of his raps has remained consistent ever since. There's been no real change in Face's style or the subject matter since his debut... just some tweaks here and there in his flow & delivery.

and you as a what 10 year old back when southernplayalistic dropped have a great perspective on southern bias? same thing with this black machine nonsense. you pull a media in their back pocket statement out of your ass with nothing to back it up. if la reid was that good laface must have been able to sign dozens of rappers in the 90's who sold (they didnt). its not like that black machine would have mattered right since black people supposedly didnt fukk with them like that right?

same thing with this revisionist history nonsense that you like to parrot. ive never seen anyone anywhere say kast was the biggest group in hip hop in 94 or 96 or that they sold the most yet that seems to be your main beef. because while stuff like that are okay sidenotes its not as important as the quality of the music. their opening two group album run was as good or better than anyone who debuted 93-99 and their 3 group album run was as good or better than anyone who debuted 93-99. thats nothing to do with history, thats having ears.

The only time Scarface's content changed was when he became a saved Christian but even then he was tackling the same stuff from a different angle. Scarface is one of the most consistent rappers in terms of what he talks about.

i probably forgot more about hip-hop by the time i was 10 than you will ever know. so save the insults for somebody else. just because you was an L7 at that age, dont think youre the norm. hell, i was a more avid follower at 10 than i am now my dam self.

they didnt suffer southern bias like other groups. their style appealed to writers & such, and that machine got them play everywhere. i dont pull nothing out of my ass. the nerds at the source tried to give their middle-road(for that time) album 5 mics until benzino vetoed it. meanwhile albums like doggystyle were merely getting 4s. and they still gave it a 4 1/2. the media(east coast media included) ALWAYS propped up outkast.

yes it is revisionist. if youre not seen as a top-tier group of your era while youre in your prime, THEN HOW THE F*CK do you suddenly pop up in ALL-TIME top 10s and chit of that nature years later. stop acting naive.

Outkast made that modern day soul music :camby:

this is the typical selling point thats used in order to make them exempt from criticism.

especially considering that theres a plethora of actual modern-day soul singers around.

You can't hate on Outkast w/o coming off like a douchebag. Fact

yea because theyre one of those groups who we've been programmed to make exempt from criticism and hand forced props on a silver-platter. even if we dont listen to them. plus theyre not a vital group so nobody cares enough to actually "hate" on them.

im not into being politically correct tho.

I think they are great because they keep the old school alive in these days of lazy ass rap and production.

theyre not keeping anything alive.

if anything, they contributed to the destruction of hip-hop by helping to bring in all these hipster fans who support the wackest chit they can find.
