that sh!t was so huff,....fat joe had three records at the same time making that bullshyt unlistenable.

pendemic, profit and she's my mami were killing that garbage.

that was the worst record that year.

anyone over processing it is becsuse they don't listen to trap music or like what good trap music really is.

the production on that record is trash and people who overrate it productionwise.

could not have heard no shawty red production. or knew much about the genre to properly rate hhnf accurrately.

that shyt is one of the huffest records ever released.

everthing about that album is garbage.

Production is garbage? :snoop:

That shyt is minimalist perfection. Excellent use of negative space as opposed to Shawty Redd and his ilk who feel like they have to throw an 808 or a snare roll in any open space. It's an updated version of say, BDP style production. THAT'S RIGHT I SAID IT!

And you never got back to me about the lyrical gymnastics on display here...

menelik was weak.

but yeah, Ka has my ear at the moment. he gets a little too dreary at times but his attention to detail is razor sharp. plus, he raps about the shyt i like.

i can't really do all this black hippy, emo dopefiend black rap that everyone else is feeling so i have to search further for inspiration.

stolen flows, beats, and concepts mixed wit some solid bars makes for a dope mixtape tribute album, but its not a classic

my answer is

Canibus - For Whom the Beat Tolls

and

Talib Kweli - Eardrum (Advanced Copy - no Scustin Timberlake)

it is not,..as a lot of the shyt on hear i heard better from sprinkles of experimentation by bjork when she was with her hubbie on her first record.

or ten inch singles that are obscure and lifted by esthero thinking no one hesrd that shyt before.

i already heard bjork make better albums in icelandic for xmas carols.

stop playing and get more robust listening.......

you hearing shyt like it before but i been hear shyt like thst before amd better, ages ago.

plus it was by a white chic and as a black performer. if you not surpassing a white chic in this medium. you can forget it as a draw,..or being called an innovator.

also,..like i said astra the weirding is the beat record in a long time in any genre, period.

Usually i'll let you spout your bullshyt because I feel you're an OG and most of the time you have a knowledge and a grasp of the topic you're speaking on...

not this time, Bjork doesn't have anything in her catalog that matches the sheer scale, beauty, artistry and musicality of Babopbyeya. Show me one song from Bjork catalog that matches that shyt. Janelle is genre-less anyways and her music shyts on Bjork and i'm a huge fan of both of them. Ill let you get away with hiphop because you do possess more knowledge than the average poster but you're batshyt crazy if you dont think Bjork's album is better than anything Janelle has even thought about dropping.

i haven' gotten around to that yet,..but given show and ag series and track record to expand on previous work.

it could easily be a classic.

especially if it is short and condensed.

usually a show/ag classic is easily discernible as classic.

so i would not doubt you giving them a classic rating...

full scale was a classic outta nowhere.

as well as soul clap and runaway were back to back classics.

no doubt mannn- yea those 3 albums are def classic by showbiz n ag- makin classics since '92- always been a big fan of them two- i liked AG's solo albums too-especially the first one

man the new album "mugshot music: preloaded" is actually just like u described- its short n condensed-AG spittin that fire n the beats are crazy

i thought they would drop some dope shyt but this shyt classic- the funny thing is this the free album before the official album

Threads like these are made all the time in the Spot. If I had the desire to check I'm sure there's a couple of trash threads on the front page right now.

As for the thread, it really depends on the criteria for a classic album. Impact isn't stopping an underground album from being classic cause it can impact the underground hip hop scene which is much more extensive than the mainstream anyway. That said, who is really doing anything new/original nowadays. Yeah, Fashawn Boy Meets World was really good, but am I supposed to view a theme about coming of age as something special when the shyts been done tons of times before?

Quality-wise, cats need to differentiate between albums they personally love and albums that have received universally great reviews. Lastly, it takes time for albums to get that label. Yeah, sometimes you know right away, but you still need t give it time to see if that feeling sticks.

Anyway, I think WTT actually has some impact/originality but I'd put my money on OB4CL2 as being that classic. Game Theory and Fishscale probably are the next two for me.
