I agree with you to a certain degree.
Wheher you call it "masculinity" or "machismo", that's what being a man is about. Why are some of you whining about this socalled "burden"? I didn't listen to the video but judging by the responses it seems like it's a bunch of males whining about being expected to be men. A bunch of dudes that need hugs.

I think it's less about the burden and more about how folks realize just how much people take you for granted.

It's a blessing and a curse. I feel like it makes my will stronger on one hand, but on the other it makes you feel sort of fukk The World-ish. But as a man I think you have to be in tune and aware of the full harshness of the world because that's it's true nature. We're the only animal on the planet that has room to worry about our own happiness. Everything else is fighting to stay alive one more day. Before people had advanced society enough to protect and delude them from the real world struggle for survival men were the ones out to face the brunt of the world. The danger, competition, wars etc. That's why we're equipped with physical strength and action based mindset, that struggle is a part of us. Thats what makes the idea of masculinity being something we can turn off or something we only have for "privileges" so damn stupid.

But in the end you gotta push forward whether you're acknowledged or not. It's always been do or die that's the man's way :blessed: If anything this just makes me appreciate the guys who work hard and put on for their peoples without ever asking for gratitude or complaining. Bout to hit up my dad later and tell him I appreciate it :mjcry:

men aren't allow to express their feelings...If you do your a b**ch or homo or emo. I don't mean as a man you should be :wrist: or complaining and whining. But everyone should be able to express they are tired, lost or confused. Thats why alot of folks wild out and off themselves or others.

As a man I have to worry about what do I offer to someone and possibly a family. How can I protect them, It really feels like the world is on your back. And God forbid your just average joe with a average job.... good luck finding a woman thats going to really respect that.

the rabbit hole goes so deep with this, its 10 times worse for black males too.

At the beginning of mean streets
I don't think it's men, I think it's black men. Black men aren't allowed to complain, you just gotta keep it pushing. You're depressed? Oh well, you just suck it up and keep it moving. Now I'm not a man, but I have witnessed this with the black men I grew up with (especially my father). Nobody really gives a fukk. It hurts to see it.

This is why I laugh when women say they're tougher than men. I don't even believe in the intrinsic superiority of one gender over another. Could I be convinced they're equally as tough? Sure, depending on the context. But, tougher? Hell no. As a man you can't even complain. Like legitimately, a man that complains is seen as defective in some way. All the asswhoopings that life dishes out you just have to remain stoic, tight-lipped and press forward. The only emotion society respects from a man is anger.

Don't forget sex-crazed horny-ness, because rape culture. :troll:

As someone who just went through the process of not having a job straight after graduating, I completely agree with Ebro. Those days where you're feeling low wondering if you'll ever get the career you've worked so hard for and youre genuinely unhappy, you realise that besides your parents and close family, no gives a fukk about you. You literally have moments where you wish your phone would ring so you could have someone to talk to but it never does.

Fast forward a few months and you're now in your dream job earning more money than all of your peers and all of a sudden your phone rings a lot more than you ever thought it would. Sure, the attention is nice but you know it's not real.

:wow:

When I was down and out after college, my life sucked...
I would've been happy if I got A call from a friend once a week.
Fast forward 6 months after I'm taking pictures in Romania folks blowing my phone up while I touch down in LA talmbout

"SirShaktus! I see you bro! HIt me up man, we gotta link up"
"Hey SirShaktus, long time no see (:beli:)... You're in Europe? Wow... Got an extra plane ticket for your girl? Lol"

This is strange to me because I'm that friend that everyone calls for advice and for uplifting when they feel down. Me and my best friend barely speak now but when we do we stay on the phone for hours discussing things going on in our lives. I don't care if someone is broke or depressed, I'm always there to help them out. I've done this with countless friends and family, and I'll continue to do it.

(BTW didn't watch the video, just responding to the responses. Will def watch later)

First thing a girl said to me when she found out I got my job was "Congrats EA on your new job, I'm so proud of you. So when are we gonna celebrate?"

At first I laughed cause I thought it was playful until I realised that I hadn't spoken to her for months prior to her texting me and it just pissed me off. She wasn't even be subtle with it.

Naturally, men will blame it on women. They'll say it's because, "wimmens are not attracted to bytch nikkas," etc.
There's some truth to this, but it's not the whole story. If men collectively decided to reject patriarchal masculinity, then women could gradually begin to appreciate men for qualities other than money, status and faux invulnerability. And men could gradually begin to appreciate women for qualities other than sex.
It's weird, as much as people like to shyt on white hipsters.

Truly liberal white hipsters have ditched most of societies norms, I've come across hipster couples where the man hasn't worked (for a long time) and the female is okay with their situation. :dahell:

Most of their males seem okay being sensitive and it emotional too. :patrice:

:beli: that's something I would expect an ignorant woman to say.
And this is what I'd say a passive aggressive fakkit would say.

did he though?

i felt like he was saying this is how it is and that's it. yes there is a burden with it and he's ultimately at peace with it.

he actually accepts the pitfalls.

Yeah.

You know what the craziest part about this is?

Women would understand this if they would just listen!

Knowmtalmbat?

I mean - aren't women always saying:
"I don't need you to 'fix' my problem, I just want you to listen to me vent and act like you care!"

That's the whole point of this clip.

A man knows the game and we just ride that chit out, but it would be cool if someone would
act like they gave a chit or tried to understand where you're at.

But again - this is not just man/woman relationships.
@FilliBuster said that no 6'4, 400 lb butch dyke is gonna have anybody listen to her.
Shenanigans. If she gets slighted at work, has to buy another seat on the airplane,
or a trainer at Planet Fitness says something offensive to her, she can go to the news
and they'll listen. Then other women will listen to her and try to relate on some level.
Not men. A 6'4, 400 lb regular dude is on his own...and he better not cry wit' his big azz.
He knows that, doe.

As a black man, we definitely have an easier path to this sort of thing, but I think it's fair to say this is an 'every man' thing.
