The outcome is the same and they have the same positions.

Maher is able to control the narrative because he is an Ivy League douchebag, whereas Rogan had the working class white man douchebag esthetic, but they are the same person imo.

You both raise great points

they're both railing about whatever is hot in with a libertarian/conservative slant

they're not very different, is the audience?

Rogan isn't hiding it much anymore.

Maher is kinda trying to have it both ways but he knows who's paying him right now. Conservative money is DEEP and he loses nothing by playing to them. He can mock mainstream republicans while adopting their talking points and claiming to be "the last liberal"

shyt is weird.

I think their audience probably have different economic and society class backgrounds, but share the same opinions on the world.

Just like I doubt Maher and Rogan perform at the same comedy clubs.

Like people already pointed out Bill Maher was always a conservative. And he's just following the normal blueprint of an old, washed up comedian blaming progressivism for his decline. The irony of his new "anti-woke and anti-virtue signaling" crusade is that the thing that had allowed him to remain relevant these last 20 years was neo-liberal virtue signaling.

Maybe he was funny in the 80s but he has been a mediocre comedian for over 20 years. Maher is a stand up comedian whose closing bit in one of his comedy specials was donating $1 million to Obama's campaign :gucci:

Back when I paid attention to his show he would always lecture his studio audience for not laughing at some of his jokes like jokes were too edgy for mainstream and not just trash. I remember him making a dikk Cheney heart joke around 5 years after it was relevant and then calling out his studio audience for not reacting to it :dead:

Now he can claim his shytty comedy is being panned because extreme lefties can't handle it and not because it's trash. Look at this shyt he just put out :mjlol:

man seriously high jacked a decade old Bill Burr plastic surgery bit and made it worse

When Bill Maher was shytting on Bush, religion and dating Superhead the old KTL and HL crew were damned near groupies. Now that he's expanded his old man rantings a bit further left all of a sudden no one ever really liked him. :comeon:

Bill Maher has been shytting on young people ever since he put himself on that summer jam screen with the “I’m a house ******” joke.

Young progressives are now his number one target even though they don’t pose any real threat to society aside from annoying people with virtual signaling. Meanwhile, he often ignores the teal threat posed by the rise of Trumpism and the right wing in this country.

I've called Maher terrible as of late in this very thread, but he definitely doesn't ignore the Trump threat. He was one of the first to say Trump would win in 2016 and people laughed. He was one of the first to say Trump wouldn't leave the white house if he lost in 2020. He was one of first to say he was allying himself with white supremacists. He's also been one of the people constantly saying Trump will run again in 2024, and even if he doesn't win...That he'll have enough judges and adjacent politicians to challenge the election results.

Bill's issue is he's playing both sides of the fence, which is what he's done most of his career. His takes on progressives lately are largely old man yelling at a cloud trash, but we gotta keep it honest he's been warning about Trump far longer than just about anyone in the mainstream.

He sounds like my friends' Dad, who has to be 65 or so. Was very conservative until about 2005

He voted for Obama twice, and even had a sticker on his car, and then, after 2012 shifted further and further right, until now, when he's as conservative as mainstream Republicans, and hates "cancel culture", "safe spaces".

The degree to which Republicans dominate the branding environment is insane.

Republicans have zero problem with cancel culture. They'll call to boycott damn near anything quick as you can believe. Remember when they cancelled the Dixie Chicks cause they said one bad thing about Bush? Remember when they were boycotting Starbucks cause they didn't like one of the coffee cups? Conservative media allows far less room for diverse opinions than "mainstream" media does, the Republican party has far more stances that its politicians are not allowed to hold or they'll get sacked, if you work for a conservative school or a church then they are far quicker to sack you for having the wrong opinion on something than a liberal school or church would be.

And the whole, "Can't talk about race in the classroom", "Can't acknowledge that gay couples exist in the classroom", "Can't say anything remotely politically sensitive in the classroom" is the epitome of Safe Space thought processes, just by another name.

Somehow "cancel culture" is only bad when you're cancelling someone who is racist or committed sexual assault, and "safe spaces" are only bad if you're protecting the kids from shyt that's genuinely traumatic.

(and I'll clarify - I definitely think there are plenty of times when "cancel culture" and "safe space" gets overboard, I just don't think it's a uniquely left phenomena)

Is his show on now? I'm curious what he says about Salman since he's been his guest many times.

The fact that him (Salman) getting attacked is only 1 of the crazy things that's happened to him is just :mindblown:

Still not crazier than him dating Padma tho.

He's an insufferable douche now and I'm somebody that used to watch his show every week but he had Trump pinned from day 1, can't take that away from him
