This is so silly. How in Gods name can you compare a video game streamer to a world class athlete? None of us have a prayer of being Steph Curry or play in the NBA/NFL/ETC. There is a good likely hood that you can be a competitive player with enough time and effort. Skills to be a gamer and to be an athlete are not in the same realm. And as far as donations being equivalent to donations on here, like Golden said most of us donated 5 or ten here was because we wanted the servers upgraded and stable(BK and Brook didn't have some media conglomerate backing them like SOHH) It was for our benefit because we want a cool posting experience. What benefit does one get donating hundreds of dollars so someone can purchase items in a MOBA or CS? Not the same thing at all
To expand on this... the community and the user experience is what drives a forum. A stream chat does have a community aspect to it like @daze23 alluded to, but it's not like whether we donate or not impacts the "community". I'm sure there could be a lively regular streamer that didn't have a sub/donation link and their followers would come back to their chat if they enjoyed the community's vibe

they think cause they beat people at street fighter at they local church they doing something :laff: they not even in the top 50% let alone top 1% let alone the top 0.1% that are considered pros.
not to mention in something like CS its not enough to be good by yourself. You have to find 4 other players to play with you and you all have to perform well enough to get noticed by a top team looking for a roster change. it's incredibly difficult

you mean like nolife_kripp ? one of the most viewed streamers on twitch ? he has 110 million views and averages 20k viewers each time for 8-10 hours a night. He doesnt read donations and doesnt push subs. But he does play commercials every 20 minutes (on a timer). They are out there. Majority of people arent making money from twitch man, dont know why this got yall hot.. Theres literally a hand ful of people making enough money to live off twitch.

WAY 100x easier to make money on youtube.

When people dig you they'll do all kinds of shyt for you. Imagine somebody sending you this in the mail just because they like your videos.

Nah breh, it's not like a movie. It is what it is...

You're watching another person play a videogame and talk over it and basically kiss ass the entire time to every follow and sub they get.
:heh:
You asked for some answers breh. People actually make more money than a 1 cert coli breh doing this as a living :mjlol:

If you check out twitch, you'll see how all the big streamers have subscriptions tabs and links to their PayPal accounts right there... they even have the info up on who donated the most for the day. shyt is wild, and I don't get it.

After thinking about this some more, and using twitch more, the main reason that I can think of as to why someone would sub/donate to somebody is if they're trying to get in the streaming game their self.

Basically, the consistent supporters of big streamers might get a co-sign from them if they support them enough. And with twitch's hosting feature, all it can take is for one of the big names to host a lesser known streamer and a lot of people will get exposed to them and that alone can get the small guy people following them/subbing to them. I've peeped this with Destiny personally, and from this standpoint it makes sense.

:mjcry: Wish I could make money like that but I don't have the patience or personality to pull it off.

My brother was watching a stream where dude was carrying people to the lighthouse in Destiny. He had a long list of requests but if you payed $20 for VIP status, you'd get bumped up to the top of the list. And that list was long too :wow:

Lighthouse rewards aren't even all that and you already spent $100 on the game, shyt blew my mind that this is a regular thing. On top of that, all he was doing was blink/shotgunning :mindblown:
