if you're genuinely entertained hours upon hours by a certain streamer I understand wanting to "give back". I'm subbed to lirik right now because his stream is entertaining as fukk to me. But fukk donating, dude is making 300k from subs alone, not even counting donations and sponsors. this dude gets a 3$ donation every second, I watched for like 1 minute randomly the other day and counted 175$ in donations in that time frame.

This is so silly. How in Gods name can you compare a video game streamer to a world class athlete? None of us have a prayer of being Steph Curry or play in the NBA/NFL/ETC. There is a good likely hood that you can be a competitive player with enough time and effort. Skills to be a gamer and to be an athlete are not in the same realm. And as far as donations being equivalent to donations on here, like Golden said most of us donated 5 or ten here was because we wanted the servers upgraded and stable(BK and Brook didn't have some media conglomerate backing them like SOHH) It was for our benefit because we want a cool posting experience. What benefit does one get donating hundreds of dollars so someone can purchase items in a MOBA or CS? Not the same thing at all
lol are you implying ANYONE can be a professional CS player? :childplease:

The comparison is people enjoy watching whoever's best at what they do. It's not that complicated. No one said they were equal to athletes. Just that watching someone who is one of the best at what they do competitively is a draw entertainment wise. You're just drawing deeper conclusions.

It's simple, this guys known as a top 10 CS GO player, more people wanna watch, very cut and dry.

Also no one is justifying anything, I'd never give a dime to watch someone play videogames :mjlol:

Just explaining what I believe to be the logic behind it

I know that it's not easy to sustain a consistent following. But once they are established... and I assume they have a decent setup before they dive into the streaming scene, how much money do they need for streaming content? They don't need to buy new equipment every month to maintain their stream. That's why I said, "keep it going" means pay their bills so they can keep playing as much as they do so that it can become a job for them.
ultimately time is money breh. plus everyone knows PC gamers have to buy a new GPU every two weeks :troll:

if you're streaming, and getting a little paper, it's gonna make it much easier to keep doing it. most of these dudes probably making scraps anyway, but at least it's something

Some of the post justifying this is just :mindblown:
"justify"? this is reality. it's happening

it's not something I'm into. but I think I understand why it does happen, and I don't think there's anything wrong with it

none of us here got a prayer to be a top competitive player either :camby: theres thousands of people who play video games and literally not a single one is close to being a top player. Theres probably more people here who got a chance to be a Division 1 college athlete with a small % to making the pros before anyone here becomes a competitive video gamer yet more people here play games than sports.

Yall stuck in the 90s mind set :camby:

I already went over the donations part. Yall donated to help them upgrade the servers. A lot of people donate to help people upgrade their computers to be ahead of the curve so they can stream at a high rate. Streaming is not cheap at all.

Whats more likely to happen? Getting on an NBA roster or being a pro CS player?
probably being a pro cs player, but it's close. You act like there are a plethora of pro cs players. there are only a few tier 1 cs teams. i've played cs off and on for over a decade, I'm good but some of these pro's are fukking insane and blow my mind. Obviously in terms of athletics you're limited by your body and athleticism, it's still incredibly hard to become a pro cs player.

making it into the NBA is probably an incredibly higher % than being on a top tier team making good money travelling the world in CS. These people are stuck in the past when it comes to gaming.

most people have an inflated idea of how good they are at games because there isn't a competitive scene for most games. I've played CS since 1.5 and there are cevo open players who shyt all over me, let alone pros.
