Real talk I fully understand why most of the league was against CP3 joining Kobe

:childplease: 2 low first rounders for a damn Hall of famer.

It's considered one of the worst trades in history.

Pop went on record talking about how they should stop the trade. The owners around the league we're pissed
Popovich pops off on Gasol trade

Pau is a hall of famer now? :childplease: Marc Gasol wasn't a premier center in the L and one of the lynchpins for the Grizzlies playoff runs now?

first off, he didnt have Dwight and Nash until the next season dumbass.

secondly, what does Dwight and a 40 year old Nash have to do with getting a 26 year old CP3? We're talking about an entirely different beast here

Third, let's say the Lakers get CP3 and trade Bynum for Dwight right after (which I think was the plan). This was before that phone call where Kobe apparently told Dwight to come to LA and be the 3rd option. So there'd be no tension, and Kobe wouldnt have to be Dwight's friend because CP3 could play that role and make sure Dwight eats while Kobe focuses on his output.

Fourth and lastly, the Dwight and Nash season you're referring to was actually one of Kobe's best seasons. It was his 17th season at age 34 and he had the 6th best FG% of his career (.463) and tied his career high for APG while single handedly leading the team to the playoffs and ruining his achilles in the process

fukk outta here cornball.....its a disgrace you rep LA :hhh:

And you pricks were saying he would have won multiple rings with CP3 so wouldn't 2013 have been one of those years? The year he had Nash and Dwight, had a great season, and still needed assistance to even make the playoffs?

The Grizz had Pau, they probably had their eye on Marc. You're telling me the Grizz had "no idea" about the brother of their best player?

Plus, iirc Kwame's contract was expiring he was making like 9M. He was valuable in that way but everyone disregards that. Grizz ended up becoming a pretty good team in the following years as well.

The Grizz trading Pau was the best move they could have made. They got Marc Gasol, they got draft picks, and cap relief. Never made it out of the first round w/ Pau...experienced postseason success after the trade. It was a trade that worked out well for both teams.

They were a glorified treadmill team.

Kobe forced his way to the Lakers anyway. He should be grateful. Now all of a sudden the NBA was out to get one of its most prestigious franchises? :russ:

CP3 wasn’t moving no needle in the league anyway. Laker fans gotta hold onto this because 2011-2012 was the last time they were actually good.

It wasn’t about being scared as it was taking stars from small markets and throwing them in the big markets with other stars

This this this. We all know Gilbert led the charge after lebron left talking about small markets were getting hurt and the big markets were benefiting. Even though Miami wasn't a big market.

You guys still can't comprehend the fact that the trade was able to be blocked because the league owned the Hornets?

lmao @ you believing that David Stern BS.

You guys are so gullible.

IT WAS AGREED UPON BY 3 TEAMS.

OWNERSHIP for all 3 teams AGREED TO THE DEAL.

Deal was reneged when teams started complaining. Cavs owner wrote a letter.
