Real talk, how come Jordan's name isn't brought up in the GOAT shooter conversations?

Mike can't have everything man... Gotdamn :gucci:

What's next .... Goat passer? Rebounder? Coach? GM :troll:
But if he happened to be the GOAT at those things (obviously hes not), why snub him of his due recognition just cuz yall want parity in these discussions.
fukk all that. If somebody's the best at something, they should be acknowledged as such.
Jordan being mentioned as a GOAT shooter seems fair to me. Damn how tired ppl are of the praise.

It doesn't to me. I don't see how anyone can watch Steph Curry over the past 5 years and say something like that.

There are a lot of great three point shooters. Steph is the best. But he's not even in Jordan's class as a player so I doubt anyone is insecure about it. If anything, it's the younger generation that is insecure because Steph is so easily dismissed.

That's a deflection if I ever seen one.

This ain't about Steph as an overall player or who is in what class overall. It's about one specific part of the game. You name something and pretty soon someone will pop up saying Jordan was either the best at it or if he wasn't it's because he chose not to be. That shyt is insecurity.

Jordan's True Shooting Percentage was 56.9%

All elite shooters should have at least greater than 58

in fact steph, harden and kd are all above 60

If Mike was not getting laid wood on him, like them. He would have shot even higher than that.
Plus them nikkaz not no dribble drive nikkaz seeking and showing textbook skill under duress either.
Including neither are hitting the buzzer shot when it counts. Nor are either cancellin the situation from being under the Most duress. Meaning there will not be a game seven.

nikkaz forget, them nikkaz lost.
All that oh,...such and such a good shooter. Well why they lost then if they such good shooters.

All this ol Flippin and bounce it shyt white bookie entertainment rag people shyt.

You never see this shyt with babe ruth.
Babe goat pitcher & goat player cause he white.
with no argument.
Now when Mike come along,...cause he black.

It is oh,....nah nah bird,...no no this guy that.

Stop it.

Y'all got this bullshyt in rap and it ain't even supposed to be that either.
Mike the best in everything nikka aND if you watched the shyt it was not close.
All that other bullshyt blasphemy.
Like when duke was like I would strike out babe ruth.

No you would not goofie.

Same as mike.

Mike is the same way,....

You wrong for saying shyt else outside of mike.

All that other alternative shyt to get a little gem from someone else here and there.
With Mike you was getting the war chest every time.
I find it funny nikkaz do not wanna go watch the nikka.
It ain't shyt else better for you to watch anyway.
Especially now...

If Yousa young nikka and you six foot five hoping on a growth spurt.

I said a GOAT, not THE GOAT.
You got ppl listing Steve fukkin Kerr over him in these discussions...I'm not trusting dude with no jumpshot over Jordan and any rational person wouldn't either, but hes a better shooter? :what:

Actually he was hitting an insane amount of jumpers at high clip during his later years. What's really weird is that he was not finishing well around the basket AT ALL.

NBA.com actually has shooting stats from his last years with the Bulls.

If their numbers are accurate, I have no problem calling him the one of, if not the best midrange shooter.

But in no case is he better than Steph in any sense shooting wise.

That's a great heads up - I wasn't aware those even existed.

However, I think you have to take those stats with a grain of salt, as they seem to have some glitches. For instance, they say that MJ was 0-6 on threes from the restricted area in 1997. That....doesn't make sense. They also say that MJ was only 52% at shots at the rim in 1997 - that would have made him one of the worst finishers in the entire NBA, that's Lonzo Ball-level finishing. I think there have to be some glitches there.

But even if you take those stats as legit, they still would only have MJ averaging mid-40s from midrange in his peak shooting years of 97 and 98, which would have been great, but not one of the greatest. For example, just looking at volume scorers from those same years, according to nba.com Karl Malone was better than MJ from midrange over those two years. Allen Iverson ,Isaiah Rider, and Tim Duncan all had similar midrange numbers to MJ in 1998 (though worse in 1997).

And the playoffs are much worse - NBA.com has MJ dropping to 40% from midrange in the postseason both years.

But yeah, any stats that say that MJ was only making 50% of his shots at the rim in one of his prime years are suspect at least.

Simply we consider shooters long range bombers for the most part.

Kind of how people dont bring up KD.

I was just about to post that. In 97 he shot a putrid 54% at the run but his mid-range numbers were damn near 50%
