Coke Boyz did not have musical talent of Dipset and that's not even saying much. Nor did any of those guys have the charisma of Dipset either which was a large part of their appeal.

Niccas stay rewriting history when it comes to Dipset , which is why I can tell the difference between who was actually bumping them during their prime and who got put on way after the fact . Anyways , just because niccas use the term "Street" doesn't mean we equatin it to instilling fear into one another or all lat other shyt , Most of us come from the streets it has nothing to do with being a certified goon it's just the environment your brought up in , ASAP buzz generated from Tumblr not from the streets of NYC niccas wasn't introducing me to ASAP I eventually found out about it on my own through someone post on Twitter (Live.Love.ASAP is a personal classic btw), Granted Dipset motivating factor was their swag , but they we're still street regardless of how you try to flip and bounce it , that was their main demographic that's where they emerged from before anything ... this recent hipster infatuation with dipset is really giving niccas amnesia of what it really was 10 plus years ago ... ASAP is great in their own right but they don't come from the same essence as Dipset at all , if I didn't look at soundscan I would have thought Diplomatic Immunity I went diamond just because of the burn and rotation it getting around me , I don't get that same feeling from ASAP and them , they didn't influence how we dressed and moved in NYC like Dipset did at all even till this very day you still see remnants of their influence lingering in NYC .

Broke it down homie. I'm not even the biggest fan of dudes but their run from 01-04 still leaves a mark even now.

:hhh: Ygz & Ybz was an issue wayyyyyyyyyy before Coke Boyz yet alone french was even relevant

French is directly affiliated with the YG'z. Why do you say they pre date French? Because French don't usually rap about 'em in his songs?
What matters is the connects. French hasn't rapped about his street ties in years. The last time he did was on the "OG Bobby Johnson" Remix.

But if you look hard enough, you can see him throw hints all over the place.

The "Julius Ceasar" video.... pay attention everytime he's on a long shot (not close up). He throws up YGz. Trust me, there's a lot shyt people don't know or just miss.

@ISO @360dagod

And ISO... charlie rock, i guess you could say he's an og YG'z, but he was not a "leader" like some people keep repeating online. He was more like Juu Hef's weedcarrier. Juu one of the top dawgs, and I think they had a falling out right before his falling out with French. He was originally a Blood i heard, and switched to blood again after the falling out (in prison?). So charlie don't get much respect in the YG hoods.

To my limited knowledge, i dont think ygz and mbb get along in that area to the point where french could continue to rock with the mbb and ygz without being friction....

The way French has been able to clean up his image and become this Hollywood socialite and making these huge pop singles like Unforgetabble is crazy.

One of the main guys in rap I want a book from is French. His rag to riches story is crazy. From immigrating from Morocco, playing the streets, doing the DVD's, the hood politics, all the people he's networked with from all walks of life, getting shot in his head, being blackballed with Max, from being signed with Akon to Puff, the beefs, mixtape grind in the South, coming up in NYC with this Coke Boyz movement, to making it big in mainstream.

During this time period French was on drugs heavy and it lead to some of the waviest hooks rap has seen. :russ:

How could they have had a movement like The Dips when Cam & Co had down south and those small towns showing crazy love? On top of that CBz spit game couldn't match Rell, JR & Cam. This ain't a fit man
