French may not be a stellar lyricist but he made great music , Coke Boyz 1-3 are NYC street classics
Coke Boyz momentum was 100x bigger in NYC than ASAP , now maybe among hipsters thats a different story , but in the hoods of NYC Coke Boyz had a bigger hold on us than ASAP .*asap mob

I was listening to some old Coke Boyz music and real talk if it weren't for incarcerations (Max, Flip, Cheeze), fall outs (Charlie Rock) and deaths (Chinx) Coke Boyz could have had the streets just like Dipset did in the 2000's. Harry Fraud was to Coke Boyz what the Heatmakerz were to Dipset.
Coke Boyz was hitting the streets the same way Dipset was through the mixtape circuit, and influencing our slang (had us all screaming hannnn) and influencing our fashion. The same way Dipset had dudes rocking pink, True Religions, big square earrings, Ed Hardy. Max had dudes rocking B.B. belts, French was one of the flyest dudes in the game at this point, and Coke Boyz merchandise t-shirts and hoodies was coming off the racks.
Not only that but on a street level the same way Dipset was influencing people to become Bloods. Coke Boyz was instrumental in the whole YG'z and YB'z movement. Charlie Rock was one of the original YG'z as was French affiliate Juu Hef who was killed back in 2013. French's Mott Haven projects was one of the main YG strongholds.
This single was an absolute bomb in the Tri-State back in '11/'12...
I think Coke Boyz as a whole don't get the credit they deserve as a crew in terms of influence. They also put out a lot of quality music.

Dipset was connected & respected throughout the streets uptown.
They had like 3-5 spinoff/affiliated movements locally.
They were actually popular in places where people didn't even rock with NY'ers like that.
Lmao if you really want to play the "What If?" game Byrd Gang would have been bigger than Coke Boyz.
Imagine if Jimmy, Max and Stacks really were able to lock in for an extended period of time. Plus with Mel around some more creative people, he'd develop more as artist.
I'm probably younger than you and I clearly remember Dipset didn't even start getting praise outside of the streets from Hipster until earlier this decade and that's almost solely off the strength of ASAP fanbase , Dipset primary fanbase in their prime we're the streets not what you see currently with hipsters liking them ironically , you had niccas naming their sets/cliques after Dipset . Cokeboyz in NYC the early 2010s was grooming to be the same way but French ain't invest too much into it after a while .We in 2017 boyz.
Nobody gives a fukk about the "streets". ESPECIALLY NY streets.
Dipset weren't know for being gangsta street nikkas anyways.
They were loved and praised for being fly and cool.
Something that ASAP embodies to this day.
I'm young, so I kno and can clearly see the effect rocky had fashion wise on nikkas. All these lil Internet nikkas get their swag from the mob.
Same way all those lil bum street nikkas got their swag from Cam Jim Juelz Stack n Max back in the day.
Rockys issue is that he sucks as a rapper and got by on being fly n having fly beats. But hey so did half of Dipset too.

bro just say different people have different influences.
ASAP dont represent shyt from my hood and im from Brooklyn, Albany Projects@ISO trying to make.
You guys are missing my point here.
What I'm saying is. Dipsets appeal is the same as Asaps appeal. Being FLY get money fukk the bytches type of dudes.
Juelz Santana n Cam was not puttin no fear in nobody heart we didn't like them cause they was street nikkas we liked em cause they had swag. We didn't even believe no street shyt them nikkas was cappin
N No offense to y'all both. But that's why Harlem is clearly the superior borough. That's why Cam sayin Jones was from the X was perceived as a insult. Cause deep down inside ya NY nikkas know that Harlem is the coolest borough.
Cause they posses the cool factor. Something that the mob has too and had birthed in this new generation.
Whether it is less street or not so be it. It is the same essecene just modern.
nikkas like Carti outchea basing their whole career of being Rocky son n are winning. They ain't doin that for no Don q or Casanova
