There's like five Swizz Beatz beats that I actually like.

I always preferred Dame Grease who I thought was perfect for DMX's content.

Agree. Here's the issue, Dame didn't wanna sign to Ruff Ryders as a production company but choose to stay managed by them for a short while - enter Swizz. Swizz obviously the nephew of Dee, Waah & Chivon and he was a youngster who dj'd but got in due to being the nephew who automatically of course was signed to the production company. It's the way of the business world, unfortunately. It adds more revenue and less cost to have in house producers under a production company obviousy.

I believe this is a large part why DMX had 2 albums in a year. It was partly to help launch Ruff Ryders - who only was a management group for the longest, but became a label when they entered the game, even though they obviously had aspiration for it previously. So that's why we saw the 2nd album being heavily produced by Swizz just right before the 1st Ruff Ryders album dropped on Interscope. A way to mold the mainstream to who Swizz was as well as his production, just like Ruff Ryders & what they were about.

dudes an astute business man on the low, so i guess people like Jay like being in contact with him...since he does production for Jay, he can constantly keep his name amongst cats on some "oh, Jay still go to him for hits" shyt...that plus his past reputation...

dude is pretty much trash, but he'll come through with a nice track every once in a while...i think he produced the first half of Murder to Excellence, which i still love...

:umad:

what did Swizzy do to you?

His beats don't really age well but he brings piff annually.

That's exactly the problem...he did exactly nothing to me for me or anything :umad:

Let All Falls Down start playing, Through the Wire, Space Ship, Family Business I'll instantly catch nostalgic soulful feels. Swizzy :camby:

OP is correct like the right answer.

9/10 Swizz Beats' beats are trash.

His beat on The Doctor's Advocate was nice though. However, seemed like he tried to bite Gay Dre's style :scusthov:

To his credit, he had one of the craziest production runs in Hip Hop.

I remember when Pete Rock was complaining about him and throwing shots at him back in '99. Everyone wanted that sound. He was a good producer back then. Definitely not great, but when he was doing his thing during like '99-'03, he had some dope shyt out. Problem is, a lot of that work hasn't aged well at all. But back then, you can't front on the beats he put out. He did some memorable shyt with X, Hov, and LOX.
