If this is an issue of parenting like many of you suggest it is, then is it fair to reason that Black people aren't good parents given the data?

Issues are not in a vacuum. Every race has bad parents but them you add other issues they don't face that are prevalent against black people and you get a bigger issue. This is logic.

Yeah I was gonna say that. For example Little Timmy and Mike Nguyen can probably get away with their parents being lax or failing in some regards because they still have examples in media, the influence of their similar race friends, and whoever their idolize to encourage them to aim for success.

Like you said, promoting a two parent household and encouraging affluent people of color to try and invest more in underfunded public school systems could be a good start.
i invest in people that value education.

their parent are too busy either trying to live a second childhood, arguing about nonsense on social media or completely disinterested and unconcerned about the education of their children.

Stats like these reflect poorly on black parents more than even the child.

A lot of coli brehs need to gain some self awareness and recognize where they are failing their child or children

This is how I know y’all nikkas don’t have kids, saying shyt like this…. If the majority of school age black kids are extremely behind their peers in reading and math skills, is it a systemic issue, or genetic issue? Be careful how you answer… :obama:

When momma and daddy don't read, the kids won't read either.

:francis:

how many hours do these parents work ? how much time is spent on them commuting to work? how much time and money do they have to spend on reading?

yes you can be poor and tired and still enjoy literature but it's not always easy for a lot of people nor is the habit developed when their parents didn't have the same traditions or instill that practice for various reasons.

theres something deeper going on.

I hear what a lot are saying about the parenting issues, cultural issues, etc. but we also need to consider what is being taught.

My kids’ school district is over 90% Black. My wife has been having to spend MULTIPLE hours every night to help out sons in their middle school math homework. The way they’re teaching them is all over the place with no real continuity, no time to get them to understand the concepts, and the concepts their teaching are flawed to begin with.

Both me and my wife have taken math up to Calculus and both have the time to help. Now imagine a kid whose parents have no time because they’re working multiple different jobs, evenings and nights shift, etc? Or when the parents just don’t know how to help even if they had the time and aren’t aware of available resources?

There’s so many factors to this shyt, simply vilifying the community is the easy thing to do, but doesn’t address the full picture.

You gotta look at the poor state of these schools in minority areas. Which don't get adequate funding from the Government.

Yep and even middle class black areas schools are trash out here in the Chicago land area that's I I just send my kids to private school my son is 4 and can read, write and do math already my homie was shocked because his son is in public school he's in kindergarten and can't even write his name :snoop:

Gee, I wonder what factors could've caused that to be the case and how the numbers compare between those who were able to complete their education versus unable :jbhmm:
I don’t understand your point.
My grandparents on my father’s side lived in Mississippi and only had a middle school education, but my dad and 7 of his siblings went to college. That happened because his parents knew the importance of education even though they weren’t educated.

Let’s keep it real. The problem is a lot of these kids are raised by single mothers who just don’t give a fukk. The kids just get sent to school and then go home and watch IG and TikTok.

Of course funding and white supremacy is a problem, but a huge a part of the issue comes down to parenting.

the value of an education is usually taught tho. people have tend to need to be inspired.
what i'm saying is if the parents don't give a fukk, I'm not wasting my time unless I see the kid trying.

you don't have to be rich/affluent to value education. You yourself may not be the most educated, but you want more for your children. those are the ones I'm willing to invest in. When you have kids, you have to make time sometimes.
